East Mount Evans Resource, Growth and the Environment — or EMERGE — met for the first time in almost two years on May 18 with about 50 people attending. They discussed the county commissioners’ current projects, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office’s new emergency systems and current wildland fire-reduction tactics. Founded in 1993, the group meets semi-annually to discuss “information about the land, water, wildlife and plants, as well as providing pertinent news from Clear Creek County government and the school district,” according to its webpage. The group specifically covers the southeast corner of Clear Creek County. Sheriff Rick Albers began by telling of the Sheriff’s Office’s current staff shortages, including one nursing position, four jailers, three dispatchers, a patrol sergeant, two officers, one investigator and a jail tech.
