COLORADO SPRINGS -- Cheyenne Mountain put an end to Riverdale Ridge’s soccer season in Colorado Springs Oct. 28. But it wasn’t without a struggle. The Indians’ Jonathan Diaz Mendoza scored twice in the last 10 minutes of the second half to give CMHS a 2-0 win in the opening round of the state 4A soccer playoffs. “We went toe to toe with them,” FLHS coach Archie Suniga said. “It took a shot from 40 yards out to break the deadlock. Hats off to Cheyenne Mountain. They’ve been here plenty of times. They are a great team. We’re young. We’ll be back.” RRHS’ defense in general and goalkeeper Sebastian Delgadillo, in particular, kept the Ravens close through the match. He made nine saves, including three sprawling efforts, to keep the Ravens in the contest. His first was in the 25th minute

The third was in the 52nd minute. “Sebastian has been outstanding all year long. He’s kept us in a lot of games. He kept us in this one,” Suniga said. “We couldn’t get much (of an) attack going.
