Faith Christian Academy is a K-12 college-prep Christian school that is a part of the ministry of Faith Bible Chapel. FCA strives to inspire and equip students to use their unique gifts to passionately represent Christ. Pursuing excellence in education and the development of a Biblical worldview, FCA guides students to dis cover and develop their unique spiritual, intellectual, creative and physical gifts and to develop a lifestyle of loving God and loving people through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Faith Christian Academy began in 1972 as Jesus Center School, an independent Christian school located in north Denver. For 16 years the school was primarily housed in the former Mount Carmel school building at 36th and Zuni. In 1988, the school moved to Arvada and became a part of the Faith Bible Chapel ministry, taking on the new name of Faith Christian Academy. Faith Christian Academy has a rich history and is excited to be entering its 50th year this fall.

Faith Christian Academy is known for excellence in academics, athletics, STEM and the fine arts. FCA graduates are well prepared for life after high school, and FCA alumnae are making an impact in the lives of others locally and around the world.

Cajun Kings is an authentic Cajun cuisine food truck. Recipes used on the truck have been passed down from multiple generations and some date as far back as the 1800s. It is very important to Cajun Kings that a majority of the ingredients used are from Louisiana. Owners Cody and Natalie Vice travel to Louisiana to utilize small-town processors, familyowned crawfish ponds, local shrimp fishermen, and privately produced seasonings/hot sauces to make sure they have the freshest Louisiana-sourced products in Colorado. Cajun Kings is known for their shrimp po-boy, fried alligator, and the popular Granny’s Rice Dressing. Everything on the truck is cooked from scratch daily, hand battered to order, and delivered direct from Louisiana to provide the most authentic and fresh Cajun cuisine in Colorado.

Cajun Kings is a product of Cody and Natalie’s dream to bring small-town Louisiana Cajun cooking to Colorado. When Covid-19 caused a shutdown of Cody’s oilfield businesses, they saw a perfect opportunity to make their dream a reality. It was at this time that they invited Cody’s brothers Christian and Coy as well as their wives, Ashley and Nicole, to come to Colorado and join the Cajun Kings team. WHAT THEY DO:

HISTORY:

The High Line Canal Conservancy’s mission is to preserve, protect and enhance the 71-mile legacy High Line Canal in partnership with the public. The canal trail is one of the longest and most spectacular linear parks in the nation. It spans 11 governmental jurisdictions stretching from Waterton Canyon in Douglas County, passing through Centennial en route to its end in Aurora. The canal’s cottonwood banks weave through residential neighborhoods, public parks, golf courses, cemeteries, commercial and industrial lands, and over and under urban throughways, all while offering those traveling its banks a slice of nature in the city.

The Conservancy was founded in 2014 to provide leadership that reflects the public’s commitment to the canal’s sustainable future. It works collaboratively with its partners, including Denver Water, as well as the local governmental jurisdictions and stormwater managers along the canal’s reach. The conservancy’s efforts will lead to a natural, more connected corridor with improved access, amenities, and safety for all trail users.

HISTORY:

When Jim and Tammy Rose, founders of Rose’s Creamery, started selling ice cream at farmers markets, they noticed no nut butter options. So, Jim Rose started making his own. Though the couple continues to create new ice cream flavors, they also sell more than 20 varieties of nut butter. For years, their best seller has been honey-roasted peanut butter.

Tammy and Jim Rose started Rose’s Creamery in 2001 out of a store in Elizabeth. Only a year or two after opening their ice cream shop, the couple closed their retail location and switched to a completely mobile business model. They have a few employees who help make ice cream out of a commercial kitchen in Elizabeth and serve it at fundraisers, farmers markets, county fairs and high school events.

Wanting to expand, several years ago, the couple began selling ready-to-bake and thaw-and-serve pies. To date, the key-lime custard option is one of the most popular. Out of all ice cream flavors, Rose’s Creamery vanilla is popular because it can be used for special treats like root beer floats. The company’s signature flavor is blue watermelon sherbet, one of the first offered when the Rose’s opened the store and a staple for kids in Elbert County.

One Mind Spa Owner Elly Marquez believes that health, wellness and beauty are all connected. She has been in the industry for years before becoming her own business’ esthetician, hoping to provide a space for her clients to grow. In addition to offering massages and body treatments, One Mind Spa also has a light therapy service to stimulate collagen production, an oxygen bar, along with lash extensions, brow tinting and waxing, among other services.

Elly Marquez has always loved makeup, which inspired her to get into cosmetics and skin care. She is a licensed esthetician in Colorado and opened One Mind Spa last summer in her hometown. Though the official event was delayed because of the pandemic, Marquez launched her online store and, later, officially opened her doors in July on Main Street in Elizabeth.

Because everyone has different needs and goals when it comes to their skin, One Mind Spa has facial treatments for both relaxation and problem areas. The spa’s signature facial includes a blend of organic ingredients with a choice of three enrichments, like a peel, jelly mask or extractions. Because the signature facial is customized by the client and esthetician, it is suitable for all skin types.

MAMCO Rescue is a foster-based rescue that specializes in rescuing pregnant and nursing dogs from high-kill shelters in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. In addition to pregnant and nursing dogs, MAMCO also accepts litters of unwanted or orphaned puppies from the communities they serve. Litters of puppies are only accepted from private owners under the condition that the owners allow MAMCO to spay/neuter any unaltered animals that will remain in the household. This service has been incredibly beneficial in low-income areas in both Colorado and Texas, where pets are routinely unaltered due to the financial limitations of the residents. When moms and puppies are brought into Colorado they are housed in foster homes, where MAMCO ensures that they receive quality food and veterinary care prior to adoption.

Aron C. Jones founded MAMCO in August of 2017 in an office in Lakewood. By February 2019, the organization needed more space and moved to its current location. With such a quick expansion, there was a lot to learn, so staff took on the attitude of “learn and adapt”. The organization frequently changes the protocols to ensure the best possible outcomes for the dogs, fosters, adopters and the community. To date, MAMCO have rescued 8,402 moms and puppies. D’Deli makes big, fun sandwiches, often by using specialty meats (from Wheat Ridge’s Edwards Meats) like smoked and corned elk and buffalo, on homemade bread. Variety is the spice of life at D’Deli, and owner Al Neighbors said the restaurant is always looking for new and different combinations – that’s how options like the Gold Hill (roast beef, blue cheese aioli, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, beets, jicama and Spinach) and Jackwagon (peanut butter, jelly, honey, sriracha, sunflower seeds, bacon, crispy fried onions, pineapple, jalapenos and banana peppers) came to be. Most of the sandwiches served can be turned into a salad or a spinach wrap for those looking to shake things up.

Built in 1901, the building that now houses D’Deli was originally known as the Oxford Bar. Eventually, the saloon was busted for gambling and had to close its doors and in 1975, Government Agent Tom Lehmann opened Joyce’s subs, bringing the first sub shop into the building. By the year 2000, a Dutch couple, Ton and Vera Kiphardt, bought Joyce’s Subs. The Dutch pronunciation of “The Deli” was “D’deli,” a name stuck, even when Neighbors bought it in 2004.

At Lone Tree Physical Therapy, the primary goal is to create success stories for every patient, every day. Every patient who comes to Lone Tree Physical Therapy deserves and receives individualized, custom treatment. That is because no two physical ailments are the same. Creating highly personalized therapies that a re designed for each, unique patient.

Joseph Patton had years of experience as a physical therapist overseeing multiple clinics in several states, but he realized that if you want something done right, you have got to do it yourself. Patton, who also lives in Lone Tree, opened his practice in 2003. He says his practice is about as busy as his space will allow – though he does not plan on moving anytime soon.

Lone Tree Physical Therapy is not a huge practice, but it gets huge results. Emphasizing hands-on, one-on-one treatment, Lone Tree Physical Therapy does not utilize aides or assistants – patients get the full attention of highly-trained certified physical therapists through their whole visit. Half of its business is through word-of-mouth. Owner Joseph Patton and fellow therapists April Manint and Donna Pepe specialize in complex spine and joint orthopedic cases.

HISTORY:

Northglenn Arts, at the DL Parsons Theatre, presents performances and programs for residents and visitors of all ages, including Northglenn Youth Theatre, NYT Jr., and Missoula Children’s Theatre for ages 5-18, and rigorous educational opportunities through NYT Academy classes, camps, and workshops. For adults and families, Northglenn Arts Presents offers a wide range of highquality and diverse programming from around the Front Range, including collaborations with companies such as Phamaly Theatre Company, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Black Arts Festival, Su Teatro Performing Arts and many more. The DL Parsons Theatre also hosts a myriad of smaller non profit organizations and schools throughout the year.

Opened in 1975, the DL Parsons Theatre is the largest municipal theatre facility of its kind in Adams County. The Parsons Theatre will be opening in the fall of this year. The City of Northglenn invested heavily into the new facility to significantly expand its support spaces including a dedicated lobby, gallery walls, rehearsal room, large dressing rooms, storage areas, activaty shop and adjacent classrooms. The facility also includes upgrades to the new est technology for lighting, sound, projection, and communications.

HISTORY:

Parker Dance Academy is a dance studio offers dance to students of all ages. Instruction at Parker Dance spans from recreational dance to competitive dance, with multiple performances throughout the year. From bringing the magic to dancers with a full-scale performance of The Nutcracker during the holidays, to the full-story-line recital in the spring, Parker Dance makes sure there is something for anyone who loves to put on music and dance like no one is watching.

Parker Dance Academy was started in 1991 by Kim Kinnear. She started with one small studio and a dream to create and bring her love of dance to the community of Parker. Over the last 30 years, the business has grown, moving into a much bigger space where they continue to create an amazing community of new and old students. Several of Kinnear’s students have gone off to do amazing things in the dance world. Some have performed on Broadway, appeared in television or film, and worked with dance companies around the world. A few even chose to come back to be a part of the studio in a new way, as a teacher. Last year, Kinnear selected Lexie Steinhauser to be her new Studio Director. Steinhauser grew up at Parker Dance Academy, working at the studio over the last seven years. Steinhauser and Kinnear have worked closely together to keep the studio’s heart and philosophy an important part of how to teach and create. By Thelma Grimes

3 Happy Dogs provides professional pet-sitting and dog-walking services while pet owners are out of town or away at work. Clients’ pets get to stay at home so they can feel safe in their own environment. The business provides services for all of Arvada,Westminster and Wheat Ridge.

3 Happy Dogs started in 2005 with a previous owner. As Lisa Barros worked closely with her starting in 2011, the previous owner realized Barros was a great fit to fill her shoes. Barros took over ownership in 2013. Currently, it is Lisa and her husband Nick running the business.

Owners Lisa and Nick Barros love and care for everyone’s pet as if they were their own. Pet sitting and dog walking are the Barroses’ full-time career, and they love every minute. A couple of their specialties are working with all kinds of pets and helping the shy dogs come out of their shell. They can give medications, bandages, insulin injections and sub-q fluids.

HISTORY:

Blu Hartkopp is a commercial photographer (still images) and director of photography (video), specializing in imagery to help businesses sell their services and products. In a single week, he might capture headshots, photograph a newly-completed building for an architect and photograph a new product being brought to market in the next 90 days.

Blu Hartkopp started out as a fine art photographer in 2007, and after almost selling out his first show he won a scholarship to the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts followed by an internship with the Maine Media Work shop. He returned to Colorado, diving headfirst into his own fulltime studio. He said he and his wife Katie purchased the old Thedie Apple Arcreage in Wheat Ridge and the rest is history.

Every job is different, which is what owner Blu Hartkopp loves.
