By Amy Woodward Michael and Marci Fassel are running “the best” horse boarding and training facility in Jefferson County and Michael Fassel is not shy about that title. “There can only be one,” Fassel said. “We are ‘the best’ horse boarding and training facility in Jefferson County,” he repeated. “We also have a lot of fun.” With 75 horses on the property, Silver Quarter Acres has been operating since 2007 although the Fassels having been boarding horses since 1986. Their barn offers 7,000 square feet of space with 25 stalls. Shared or individual outdoor pins are available, as well as a fairly large 90 feet by 160 feet indoor arena, an outdoor arena and a ton of other shelters and runs that those outside of the horse training community may not be too familiar with. “Other than simply being the best, our nutritional program is pretty cool,” Fassel said. Quality Purina feed products are available including grass, alfalfa hay and organic barley fodder that is grown on site, he said. Activities offered satisfy all age groups and skill levels with weekly campfires around the fire pit. It’s a down to earth attitude that Fassel permeates and it’s definitely an attitude that defines the facility’s environment. “We’re just a family friendly community,” he said.
