1) Is this your 1 time on a toilet in Colombia? Besides shorter doors you should also pay attention to the fact that used toilet paper doesn’t belong in the toilet but in the trashcan. Otherwise the toilet can occasionally become blocked & overflow … shit happens! 2) @Check-in hostel: keep your original passport or identity card @ hand each time. Colombian law requires registration of every tourist. 3) When paying with credit card @the supermarket they’ll sometimes ask in how many instalments (cuotas) you like to pay. Just answer with 1 because you want to pay immediately all at once, right!? 4) In the jungle & tropical rain forest you should put your camera & other electronic equipment in a sealed plastic bag containing moisture absorbing sachets as the humidity can be very high. 5) Colombia has a different voltage than in other countries (110 V, 60 Hz). Therefore, it is possible that your razor will not work but what the hell, it’s a holiday after all & that unshaven look can be sexy. Bring your universal plug or buy an adapter for very little money (± 5/adapter) in a tienda (small local shop). The adapter has a flat plug.
1) ¿Es tu 1ra vez en un baño en Colombia? Además de las puertas bajitas, también debes tener cuidado de no arrojar el papel usado al inodoro sino a la caneca. De lo contrario, ¡el inodoro podría taparse y desbordarse! 2) @Check-in hostal: tener tu pasaporte original o documento de identidad a la mano cada vez. La ley colombiana exige el registro de todos los turistas. 3) Cuando pagas con tarjeta de crédito en el supermercado, muchas veces te van a preguntar en cuántas cuotas quieres pagar. En este caso responde 1, ya que lo vas a pagar todo de una vez ¿cierto? 4) En la selva y en el bosque tropical debes guardar tu cámara y demás aparatos electrónicos dentro de una bolsa de plástico con sobres absorbente de humedad, ya que la humedad puede ser muy alta. 5) En Colombia el voltaje es diferente a otros países (110 V, 60 Hz). Es posible que tu máquina de afeitar no funcione, pero qué carajos, estás de vacaciones y ese look descuidado puede ser muy sexy. Trae un adaptador universal o compra uno aquí por poco dinero (± 5p/ adaptador) en una tienda. El adaptador tiene un enchufe plano. 6) Las mujeres colombianas son hermosas. Cuando hayas perfeccionado un piropo o 2 ¡te confundirán con un local! POR Ej. ‘Me gustaría ser aviador para volar en tus sueños!’ 7) Siempre es bueno cargar billetes de 1.000, 2.000 y 5.000 en tu bolsillo. Es posible que no encuentres cambio y te toque esperar mucho tiempo. ¡Imagínate que acabas de pedir un Coco-Loco en la playa y te mueras de la sed! 8) Evita tomar agua de la llave o pregunta en tu hostal si el agua es potable. 9) Cuando viajes en bus, lleva un suéter extra o una cobija ¡porque el aire acondicionado puede ser MUY frío! Aplica la misma regla cuando vas al cine en la Costa Caribe. 10) Cuando tomes un bus en Bogotá para llegar a La Candelaria, asegúrate de decir “La Candelaria Centro Histórico” porque hay 2 lugares diferentes llamados La Candelaria. 11) @Bogotá: Avianca tiene un aeropuerto diferente! Hay un servicio de transporte gratis entre los 2 aeropuertos.

6) In Colombia English is not widely spoken. On the Caribbean coast locals talk VERY fast; their Spanish very quickly begins to sound like Chinese. Use the phrase: ‘Por favor, es posible hablar más despacio?’ (Can you please talk a little slower?). You’ll also notice that women are gorgeous in Colombia. Reason enough to be motivated to learn the Spanish language. Once you’ve mastered a piropo (chat up line) or 2 you might even be mistaken for a local! 7) It is always a good idea to carry an assortment of 1.000, 2.000 & 5.000 bills in your pocket. Otherwise, it is possible that no change will be available and you´ll need to wait a long time. Imagine you just ordered a Coco-Loco on the beach & you are so thirsty. 8) Avoid drinking water from the tap or check in advance @your hostel to know whether or not the water is drinkable! 9) When you are traveling by bus, always take an extra sweater or blanket with you because the air-conditioning can sometimes be very COLD! The same rule applies when you go to the cinema at the Caribbean Coast. 10) When you take a bus in Bogotá to get to La Candelaria, say “La Candelaria Centro Histórico” because there are 2 different La Candelaria-areas.
