WOLF&RITA Tropicalia is the name of a cultural movement that rose in Brazil at the end of the 1960s: artists, writers, musicians and intellectuals of every kind took part, opposing the conservative and authoritarian ideas widespread in the country at that time.

Ultra-bright clothing, accessories and long hair were the distinctive signs and Wolf&Rita have decided to draw inspiration from it for the AW 19-20 collection. Cheerful, fun pieces, with brightly-coloured prints are the strong points of this collection, that wants to remind little ones to fight for their dreams.

WYNKEN Tropicalia è il nome di un movimento culturale sviluppatosi in Brasile intorno alla fine degli anni 60: artisti, scrittori, musicisti e intellettuali di ogni genere vi presero parte opponendosi alle idee conservatrici e autoritarie diffuse nel paese all’epoca. Vestiti ultra-colorati, accessori e capelli lunghi erano i segni distintivi e Wolf&Rita ha deciso di trarvi ispirazione per la collezione AW 19-20. Capi allegri e divertenti, con stampe coloratissime sono i punti forti di questa nuova collezione, che vuole ricordare ai più piccoli di lottare per i propri sogni.

Cute, smiley butterflies are the protagonists of the autumn-winter collection from Wynken, an English brand that produces unisex children’s clothes with a contemporary design, and decorate sweatshirts, t-shirts and hats, all with an urban street touch in a ‘90s style. The graphic design was created for the occasion in collaboration with the illustrator Jack Cunningham. Alongside the butterflies it is possible to also find a print that reproduces Japanese maple leaves and the unmissable logo of the brand, a stylised winking smiley face.

UNAUTHORIZED The world of children and adults become mixed, the wardrobes merge and the age differences cancel each other out in the collection from the Danish brand Unauthorized. The garments are actually designed for kids, but with a design and style that draws inspiration from adult clothing.

For the autumn-winter 19/20 collection we find street-inspired garments with ‘70s-style jumpsuits matched with unusual fit bumbags. The colours are soft, ranging from beige to powder blue.

La grafica è stata creata per l’occasione in collaborazione con l’illustratore Jack Cunningham. Accanto alle farfalle è possibile trovare anche una stampa che riprende le foglie di acero giapponese e l’immancabile logo del brand, uno smile stilizzato che fa l’occhiolino.

The garments are mostly organic cotton with a great regard for the environment and in the collection for the next cold season we find retro influences from American Westerns. Work clothes, like all in one jumpsuits and denim jackets, are accompanied by sweatshirts and t-shirts with typical Native American decorations.

During the latest edition, which was held in February, there were 5,000 visitors from 46 different countries, a 3% rise on the January 2018 edition, data that bodes well for the summer edition.

www.fimi.es The winter appointment with the Playtime Fair took place from 26 to 28 January at the Parc Floral de Paris, one of the focal points for fashion and lifestyle dedicated to the world of children. This edition saw the presence of a record 558 brands, of which 128 were exhibiting their own collections for the first time. The area dedicated to lifestyle was increased by 150 square metres to give even more space to a theme that in recent years has seen its own importance and influence on the market grow. 7,235 visitors were able to appreciate the quality and dynamism that characterise Playtime and make it one of the most important events for an international meeting: 56% of the participants in fact come from overseas, with the USA in the lead and China ever-increasing. A great success again for the virtual development of the fair with the Playtime Online platform, a portal where it is possible to purchase selected products, which following its launch in 2018 can today already count 150 brands and 3,000 buyers. In the summer Playtime will inaugurate the brand-new event in Shanghai, while as regards Europe, the Parc Floral awaits visitors from 29 June to 1 July.

BUBBLE AT PURE LONDON The edition of Pure London dedicated to spring-summer 2020, will take place from 21 to 23 July at the Olympia centre in London. For this next edition, too, the London fair has decided to further increase what is on offer with the expansion of the section dedicated to children in collaboration with Bubble. In this special area it will be possible to find not only clothes and accessories for the world of kids, but also plenty of design objects for the parents, and accessories for future mums. Il nuovo nome indica il desiderio di espandersi verso realtà giovani, allargando il proprio bacino di riferimento e diventando sempre più inclusivi e completi nell’offerta, creando un’esperienza olistica dove poter scoprire ed esplorare il mondo della moda e del design. Le tante novità hanno portato a CIFF YOUTH un aumento del numero dei visitatori specialmente provenienti dalla Svezia e dall’Europa dell’est. The new location, that already proved successful last year, is next to the CIFF fair, thus pushing visitors to take part in both events, but allowing CIFF YOUTH to keep its own independent atmosphere.

The January edition with the name change from CIFF Kids to CIFF YOUTH marked an important turning point for the Danish fair dedicated to the world of little ones. The new name indicates a desire to expand into youth culture, extending its area of reference to become more inclusive and complete in its proposals, creating a holistic experience where you can discover and explore the world of fashion and design. The many innovations have brought an increase in visitors to CIFF YOUTH especially from Sweden and

London - UK - August 2019 DOT TO DOT LOOKS TO THE FUTURE AND NEW POSSIBILITIES.

The latest edition of Dot to Dot, number 11, had a bitter-sweet taste. Whether it was the fault of Brexit or the economic crisis taking place in the UK doesn’t matter, what is certain is that the world of children’s fashion, and the dedicated trade fairs, have seen a drastic drop in visitor numbers. Registrations for the 11th edition of Dot to Dot were higher than last year, even if the actual on the spot presence was down: the suspicion is that buyers were more cautious about undertaking the trip to the UK. All this created a difficult climate for the various exhibitors, particularly among the newcomers. That said, the quality on offer was really high, and the layout and décor of the space very appealing, with a wide selection of street brands from Korea, and plenty of other distinct brands with Compass Kids, Wunderlang and Mabli to name just a few. In the kids fashion industry there is no longer the movement recorded in the last five years, but Dot to Dot will be able to recalibrate its proposal, to take advantage of and investigate new possibilities to create an exhibition space suitable for English brands and in a position to follow the changes of our time.

L’ultima edizione di Dot to Dot, la numero 11, ha avuto un sapore dolceamaro. Che sia stata colpa della Brexit o della crisi economica in atto nel Regno Unito poco importa, quello che è certo è che il mondo della moda bambino, e delle fiere di settore dedicate, ha visto un drastico calo delle presenze. Le registrazioni per l’undicesima edizione di Dot to Dot erano state superiori a quelle dell’ultima stagione, anche se le effettive presenze in loco risultano in calo: il sospetto è che i buyers siano stati più cauti nell’intraprendere il viaggio verso il Regno Unito. Tutto ciò ha creato un clima difficile fra i diversi espositori, specialmente fra i nuovi arrivati. Nonostante questo la qualità dell’offerta è stata davvero alta, e la disposizione e decorazione dell’area molto accattivante, con un’ampia selezione di brand street provenienti dalla Korea e tanti altri marchi che si sono distinti, fra i quali Compass Kids,Wunderlang e Mabli. Nella kids fashion industry al momento non c’è più il movimento registrato negli ultimi 5 anni, ma il Dot to Dot sarà capace di ricalibrare la propria proposta, di sfruttare ed investigare nuove possibilità per creare uno spazio espositivo adatto ai brand inglesi e in grado di seguire i cambiamenti del nostro tempo.

After two intense days of events, Gallery SHOES in Düsseldorf closed on 12 March, one of the key moments dedicated to shoes and more in general to accessories, with more than 550 brands from 20 countries, of which 65% were international. Gallery SHOES has confirmed its role within the global panorama, offering itself as a meeting point between buyers, exhibitors, large retailers and the press. The space dedicated to the world of children is huge and interesting, with a wide range of brands specialising in footwear for little ones; from boots to little slippers for toddlers, to gritty sneakers. One of the strengths of Gallery SHOES is knowing how to integrate accessories into the wider panorama of fashion, in fact proposing shows where trendy footwear is inserted into a complete look. Among the most in vogue trends also for this year are sneakers, reigning both for kids and for adults. The next appointment is 1-3 September.

Si è conclusa il 12 Marzo a Dusseldorf, dopo due giorni intensi di eventi, il Gallery SHOES, uno dei momenti fondamentali dedicati alle scarpe e più in generale agli accessori, con più di 550 brand provenienti da 20 paesi dei quali il 65% internazionali. Gallery SHOES ha confermato il proprio ruolo all’interno del panorama globale, proponendosi come punto di incontro fra buyers, espositori, grandi retailer e stampa. Molto ampio e interessante lo spazio dedicato alla moda bambino con una vasta proposta di brand specializzati nelle calzature per i più piccoli; dagli scarponcini fino alle babbucce primi passi, passando per sneakers grintose.

Uno dei punti di forza di Gallery SHOES è quello di saper integrare l’accessorio nel più ampio panorama della moda, proponendo infatti le sfilate dove le calzature di tendenza vengono inserite in un look completo.

Fra le tendenze più in voga anche quest’anno si conferma la sneakers sia per il kids che per l’adulto. Prossimo appuntamento dall’1 al 3 Settembre.

L’edizione 89 di Pitti Bimbo ha in serbo tantissime sorprese e novità. Da sempre punto centrale per la moda bambino, ma non solo, anche questa edizione il team di Pitti Bimbo supera se stesso proponendo nuovi spazi espositivi, ripensati e ridisegnati in funzione del visitatore. E’ il caso della nuovissima apertura del Top Floor nel padiglione centrale, centro nevralgico della fiera, dove quest’anno saranno presenti le realtà più creative e di ricerca della fiera ovvero: KidzFIZZ, #ACTIVELAB,The Nest, EcoEthic e Kids’ Evolution. Inoltre, per la prima volta, in quest’area saranno anche presenti diversi spazi comuni aperti a mostre, progetti editoriali ed eventi che coinvolgeranno buyers, stampa e influencers. BEAUTIFUL ON THE OUTSIDE. GOOD ON THE INSIDE. Save the Ocean. This is the appeal that has characterised the beginning of this 2019 and has somewhat conditioned and exalted the activities of brands both big and small, committed to do something for our Planet.

Tons of plastic are being used every day and beyond completing an initial part of the journey by diligently separating out recycling, we often have no idea what becomes of this rubbish in its second life. The second life of bottles, though is shown more and more on the labels of shoes, soles, swimwear, bags… a job and a commitment that has become the order of the day and that at times defines the reuse and the wonder, with truly diverse applications with respect to the original product. It is not only plastic, however. The use of alternative materials also passes to the study of different solutions, where Mother Nature is the mistress.

Yarn from trees, maize and beetroot bioplastic, some are even pushing for milk fibre. Without going to extremes, it is nevertheless a slow and silent revolution, which passes through education. And if on the one hand games are created for the preschool period in which the means for recycling are considered on a par with firemen and even police with sirens, here is also the most classic imitation game, from small markets and the first rudiments of commerce, it goes so far as to tell us, with simple, different forms, how good the food is, even when it is not perfect and symmetrical, exactly as happens in the organic Saturday markets that take place in some cities. And if that isn’t enough, even furniture design uses wood in the most natural way possible. Colour and feel, but also the finish, for ultra-modern, multi-functional accessories, but at the same time respectful of the raw materials. The future? Good products, beautiful too. Inside.

Save the Ocean. Questo l’appello che ha caratterizzato la partenza di questo 2019 e che in qualche modo ha condizionato ed esaltato l’attività di brand grandi e piccoli, impegnati a fare qualcosa per il nostro Pianeta.Tonnellate di plastica vengono utilizzate ogni giorno e, al di là del completare diligentemente una prima parte del percorso con una raccolta differenziata corretta, spesso non sappiamo che fine facciano questi rifiuti con seconda vita. La second life delle bottiglie di plastica, però, emerge sempre più sulle etichette che caratterizzano scarpe, suole, costumi, borse… un impiego e un impegno che è diventato all’ordine del giorno e che a volte determina il riutilizzo e lo stupore, con applicazioni davvero diverse rispetto all’origine. Non solo plastica, però. L’uso di materiali alternativi passa anche dallo studio di soluzioni diverse, dove a far da padrone è Madre Natura. Filati da alberi, bioplastica da mais e barbabietola, qualcuno si spinge anche nella fibra di latte. Senza arrivare agli estremi, è però una rivoluzione lenta e silenziosa, che passa anche dall’educazione. E se da un lato nascono giochi per il periodo prescolare in cui i mezzi per la raccolta differenziata sono considerati al pari di vigili del fuoco e, addirittura, di polizia e sirene, ecco che anche il gioco d’imitazione più classico, da mercatino e primi rudimenti di commercio, arriva a raccontarci, con semplici forme diverse, come il cibo sia buono, anche quando non simmetrico e perfetto, proprio come accade nei mercati bio del sabato in qualche metropoli. E se non basta, anche il design del mobile passa dall’uso più naturale possibile del legno. Colore e tatto, ma anche finiture, per complementi multifunzionali, ultramoderni, ma allo stesso tempo rispettosi della materia prima. Il futuro?
