Dance Scholarship Essay

I danced at Tina's Dance Studio in Eldridge, Iowa for 12 consecutive years before I graduated high school. There I studied in ballet, pointe, contemporary, modern, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip–hop, musical theater, gymnastics and clogging. I was also a part of the competition team for eight years. We not only did local competitions and conventions, but we traveled and went to nationals in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City. I also danced in shows in Disney World and on a Carnival Cruise Ship. Inhigh school, I was on the varsity Dance Team winning three state titles in pom and lyrical eventually traveling to Nationals. A few summers ago, I trained with Hubbard Street Dance in Chicago with their summer intensive focusing on modern, contemporary and ballet. During my senior year of high school and this past summer I taught classes in jazz, tap and contemporary for students 8–16 years old. I also self–choreographed three competition solos. Here, at Ohio University, I am a member of the dance team doing dances at football and basketball games. Even though I have danced for basically my whole life, I choose...show more content... None of the injuries happened while dancing. I broke my growth plate in my right wrist twice, two years in a row. The doctors said that I broke it the second time probably because it was not fully healed from the first time I broke it. Fun fact, my right forearm is a tiny bit shorter than my left because of this. I also broke my elbow. I broke the lateral epicondyle in the humorous causing a fracture in the head of the radius. To this day, my wrist is perfectly fine, but my elbow can hurt sometimes. My elbow does "pop" every time I straighten it because the bones will never be back to their original size (they swelled up a lot) but the doctors said that this is normal. I do have my elbow brace in case I need it again, but I have not had any problems since the original

When I started volunteering at Utica Dance in the fall of 2014, I was just as nervous as the newly enrolled dancers in the class I was about to teach. Even though I was only the Volunteer Assistant to the Dance Instructor, I felt as if a heavy responsibility was placed upon me. I oversaw almost twelve children ranging from seven to thirteen who all wanted desperately to become professional dancers, many of which are still pursuing that dream. On top of that, all these children had begged their parents to sign them up for an expensive, intensive fundamental ballet program; then dragged their parents to buy tights and leotards; then dragged them into the waiting room of a dance

Some of the biggest names in sports are Mark McGwire, Steve Young, Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, and so on. Now, imagine if all of those players never made it to the pros. What would happen to professional sports? Why are they in the pros now? To make it into professional sports you need more than just talent. You need opportunity. The cake can't be complete without it being baked. There can not be a missed step in the process. Could Mark McGwire have made it to the pros without attending The University of Southern California(USC) on an athletic scholarship or Michael Jordan without attending North Carolina, Allen Iverson without attending Georgetown University, or Steve Young without attending Brigham Young University? To earn a spot on a roster, you can not miss a step in the process of getting there. A college scholarship is a giant step. Along with college scholarships being a step to making it into professional sports, it is also many times the only way for some people to earn a college degree. College is very expensive and can many times run young adults into a large debt once out of college. For example, USC can cost up to $25,000 a year to attend. That includes tuition, books, parking, room, and board. At the end of a 4 year term at USC, the total comes out to about $100,000. That $100,000 is excluding other living expenses such as gas, car payment, car insurance, clothing, and general spending money. Not only is that figure contained to USC but can be easily applied to Georgetown, Brigham Young and The University of North Carolina. That's a very expensive education and not everybody has the luxury of spending that much money. Many people would Get more content

I never stop thinking about being a film director. All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work. When the opportunity showed up I took it. I came to New York City to study film. But I have to start from the beginning. The first year I prepared to get my GED. In October 2001 I took the examination and I passed it. Now, the second step, how can I do to pay a college or a university? I started to work and I took editing courses in the School of Visual Art and NYU. I bought a digital camera and I learned how to used it. I started to work making digital videos for parties and events. I earned enough money to start my career. The CUNY advisor sent me to HOSTOS Community College because he told me that it would be easier for me to study there. When students think about going to college of course the first thing they think of is the cost. However, I am not going to just any college, I am going to a private all women's college, not because I want to but because I need to. Meredith College is the best fit for me for so many reasons. One of those reasons being that they offer a pre–dental program that other public universities do not. Paying for a private college is already going to be hard for my family and I not to mention paying for dental school after I graduate undergrad school. I have applied to many scholarships and already received quite a few but I am still far from reaching my goal of being able to comfortably pay for my college

Department of Agriculture and Nutrition Scholarship Essay

9 January, 2017

I choose to pursue an agriculture degree because I have always felt drawn to the field. I have loved animals and felt a strong desire to care for them since I was a little girl. Animals mean the world to me and when they're doing well, my heart can rest. I absolutely love farm animals and fully intend to have my own sort of miniature zoo on a hobby farm. During high school I was in FFA and 4H and thoroughly enjoyed showing chickens and rabbits. I started out as a biology major at Dixie State but did not find satisfaction because there were no animal science courses available, but I was unable to leave my family and live elsewhere so I remained unhappy.

Throughout my childhood I dreamed of my future college adventures. I pictured myself receiving a full–ride to a major college because of my athletic ability and academic success. As the years progressed, I came to realize that earning a scholarship through sports wasn't nearly as easy as I had once believed. Luckily, I was able to grasp this idea early on in high school, and although I enjoyed athletics, I now understood that the likeliness of my future including sports was marginal. Due to the many conversations and support that I received from one of my teachers, I was able to come to peace with the fact that my varsity days would be over in a few short years. My teacher displayed his devotion to education by helping me come to terms with my future not encompassing sports, regardless of the fact that he was my head football coach. As a result of the recognition that my future would be based upon performance in the classroom, I was able to push myself to achieve new academic goals which eventually resulted in acceptance to SMU. Over the course of my time in school, I have been fortunate enough to have many wonderful teachers in class. A few weeks ago, our writing course was presented with a question that asked for one quality that every successful teacher must possess. Because of the number of excellent teachers I have had, it was difficult to pinpoint one characteristic
