Truckers can sleep safe in Colesberg

PICTURE: FACEBOOK

COLESBERG: Recently a trucker who had to overnight in Colesberg at the Caltex filling station, shared a very heartwarming story with his co-truckers. He claimed that about a week ago he was approached by a local that goes by the name Johannes. He offered to wash the driver’s ‘horse’ in exchange for a loaf of bread. He told the guy that truckers need something else and, a brand-new initiative started. “I told Johannes that truckers are always concerned about their safety and the safety of their cargo, so I offered him a decent tip in exchange to look after my truck while I was taking my routine nap.” Colesberg is a very convenient stop for

trucks on the long road. “I then assured Johannes that if he makes sure he is here at the Caltex around day fall, he can offer to look after several of the trucks and receive decent tips from the drivers. I assured him that I will spread the word and makes sure we support him.” The trucker was advised by Johannes not to share a photograph of him on social media because other locals will target him and pick on him. One trucker was so happy about the fact that he could have a decent night of sleep without worrying about his safety, that he blessed him with his old cellphone. “Spread the word, sleep safe…and remember to tip Johannes!”

COVID-19 – Alert!

Covid-19 cluster outbreaks in these 3 provinces

| 05 | COVID-19

NORTHERN CAPE: Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Tuesday (27 April 2021) said there were several COVID-19 cluster outbreaks in mines, schools, and townships in three provinces, which health experts were monitoring closely. The Northern Cape, the Free State, and the North West have recorded a significant spike in daily new coronavirus infection rates over the last few weeks. Mkhize said it could be

attributed to the Easter holiday break where the virus spread faster. “These increases show that we’re still at risk and, therefore, we must keep using masks, social distancing more now than ever. "The sense of complacency of people feeling that we’re fine and were without problems… we must remove that thinking because it is going to cause us an earlier surge, which we could’ve actually delayed.”
