Curt Gowdy State Park has over 35 miles of trails for just about any cardio level. The trails are well-designed and suitable for any skill level, and range in elevation from 6,800 to 7,600. El Alto and Slabz! Trails provide some incredible views, and don’t miss the waterfall at the west end of Crow Creek Trail. Curt Gowdy Kate’s Trail is a 1-mile concrete trail starting and finishing at the Visitor Center. This trail gives anyone with a disability an opportunity to view natural areas of the park.

Vedauwoo Recreation Area
Vedauwoo, meaning “Land of the Earthborn Spirit,” sits at an elevation of 8,000 feet and offers a range of outdoor activities including hiking, climbing, biking, and camping. Renowned for its Sherman Granite rock walls, Vedauwoo has over 1,000 climbing routes, making it one of the top destinations for rock climbing in the world.

The climbing areas are divided into 3 areas:
1. Central Vedauwoo features over 20 formations, including the Fall Wall, which is the most popular climbing spot in the area. It offers a range of climbing grades suitable for all skill levels. Fall Wall can be quite busy on weekends due to the beautiful views it provides.
2. The Outback Areas offer additional climbing formations with more challenging routes, such as those found in the Greater Reynolds Area and Blair.
3. The Outlying Climbing Areas are accessed via Happy Jack Road. These areas include a few climbing spots like The Roof Ranch, Eagle Rock, and Jet Stream.

Sloan Lake is nestled within Lions Park and offers rentable water sports during summer months. Lions park is a community favorite for walking, jogging and biking on its surrounding paths. The park features picnic areas, playgrounds and open spaces for various outdoor activities, while the lake itself is stocked with fish.. Throughout the year, Lions Park hosts a number of community events.
Nearby Lake Absarraca is close to Cheyenne Frontier Days Park, and across from the Airport Golf Course. It’s another great spot for fishing, boating and picnicking. The lake’s trails offer additional space for walking and running.
