Angela Raymond: A Multidisciplinary Afro-Latina Artist and Storyteller

Angela Raymond is a versatile Afro-Latina artist and storyteller, engaging in various forms of creative expression including writing, acting, directing, photography, and abstract painting. She embarked on her painting journey in 2021 but chose to keep her work private for almost three years before making her debut at a group exhibition in 2023.

Rooted in her Afro-Panamanian heritage and influenced by a military upbringing, her artwork delves into themes of identity, emotion, environment, nature, and the human experience. Among her early abstract creations are notable pieces such as “Rhythm” inspired by her affection for pink and black, and reminiscent of musical notes on a piano and “Equation”, which draws from her interest in computer programming code. Her artistic process is intuitive, skillfully blending precision with expressive freedom. Alongside her artistic endeavors, Angela also works in real estate and technology, motivated by a passion for helping individuals find spaces that resonate with them. “Green Hair Girl” is inspired by culture and beauty, highlighting the textures of hair found within her community. The painting employs bold strokes of color and vibrant shapes to portray the intricate structure of hair. Birds are included to symbolize freedom—the freedom to express oneself authentically without feeling confined.

Her creative process began with sketches potential compositions, which evolved into a t gouache painting. This initial piece was n refined with added detailed markings, ulting in the final artwork. Lori Mitchum Lori Mitchum

Lori’s artistic journey began by observing her mother as she crafted stunning oil paintings of landscapes and flowers. In 2009, Lori discovered her passion for capturing the world through photography while spending the next decade documenting her daughters playing fast-pitch softball. Since that time, her love for photography has flourished, leading her to delve into the enchanting world of macro photography in nature.

One of her favorite activities is to uncover striking perspectives and reveal hidden details that often go unnoticed. She delights in showcasing the extraordinary within the ordinary, inviting viewers to see the world from a fresh viewpoint. I encourage you to join me in this exploration of beauty, intricacy, and the frequently overlooked wonders that surround us.

Hailing from Marietta, Georgia, Lori cherishes her annual family visits to Big Canoe in North Georgia, where she enjoys daily nature walks, immersing herself in the vibrant tapestry of flora and fauna. From delicate petals to intricate patterns, countless visual treasures await discovery all it takes is a moment of pause and a shift in perspective.

Greg Stone Greg Stone

Born and raised in the Atlanta region, Greg Stone obtained his BFA from the University of Georgia and his MFA from the University of Kansas. He is a co-founder of the international printmaking collective À la Poupée & the Chine-Collés, which recently showcased their work in Auckland, New Zealand! After completing his graduate studies, Greg resided in New York City and the Hudson Valley, where he took on a variety of roles in the art industry, including Art Handler, Printer-forHire, Studio Assistant, and Master Printer.

With a long time interest in typography and poster design, the piece Invest in Community was created originally as postcard to be given away to members of the community promoting that simple and clear call to action.

The power of community is great and enduring, from one’s street, block or neighborhood to larger sense of town, city, school or church, community brings people together, provides a sense of belonging and identity, and has the capacity to create positive change. Greg strongly believes and advocates for the importance of engaging and investing in one’s community, in big and small ways.”

Layers is a collaborative piece created during the pandemic lockdown. My family and I took daily walks in nature, embracing the scents and beauty around us. My three children are represented in this artwork, capturing the essence of those shared moments.

Dr. Petka has published multiple articles in Arts & Activities and SchoolArts magazines. Her artwork was commissioned for Williamson Bros. BBQ product labels, now distributed globally, reflecting her continued passion for art beyond the classroom.

Kathleen Sneed Petka has devoted 21 years to teaching Visual Art at Walton High School. Her remarkable accomplishments include:
