RecWeek 2022 Socials @COARecWeek

After two years of doing things at a distance, this opportunity to go back onsite has been greeted with much excitement and hope. Yet, this also made us ask: what are we going back to? With a cohort who has spent most of their Ateneo student life online, the horizons before us appear daunting– full of challenges and uncertainties. It is not surprising, then, that as we face another transitional year, the question that remains is: Will joining an org be worth it? In their two years online, student groups and organizations were able to show more of themselves: more of their compassion, more of their innovation, and more of their creativity. In these efforts and commitments to fulfilling their unique advocacies, orgs were able to thrive and overcome adversity both despite of and because of the COVID-19 context. If there’s anything the two years online proved, then, it’s that despite the challenges and uncertainty, we are able keep growing, learning, and tapping into our boundless potential. As we enter another transitional year, a year where the community adopts the hybrid approach, think of orgs as the home in which you become introduced and re-introduced to the multitudes inside of you. There are horizons out there that demand your compassion, innovation, and creativity. With the promise of newness and the skills you've gained from the online set-up, there is so much room for you to build and grow a home in the sky, for and with the community. We've got more than enough space for you right here, and we'd be happy to welcome you home.

DISCERNMENT WEEK (August 22 to 26), to be held primarily online, allows organizations to showcase their advocacies and core competencies. Plenty of activities led by the organizations are lined up for interested students to show the exciting opportunities that they have to offer.
APPLICATION WEEK (August 29 to September 2) is when all participating organizations' application forms open online, through Gforms. Onsite booths will also be open on Red Brick Road from August 31 to September 2 so that organizations and student groups can interact with interested students in a face-to-face setting. This year, RecWeek is going back onsite in its first hybrid set up! As such, COA RecWeek 2022 will be divided into two weeks to accommodate a mix of both online and onsite activities:

The interactive RecWeek Website will be the main platform used for the entire duration of RecWeek. Through the website, LS students can know more about the different organizations in the Ateneo through featuring write ups, pictures, and other pertinent details about the participating organizations of COA RecWeek 2022. Other features include a schedule of RecWeek events, the map for onsite RecWeek, links to organizations’ merchandise, and more! Come Application Week, the website will also be releasing and opening the registration forms for you to apply to the organizations that you want to brave new horizons with! Find us at: coarecweek.org

Kindly take note that applications officially open on August 29 and will close on September 2. 5 6 Sign up for interviews or individual consultations if the org requires it. Take note of the date and venue of General Assemblies too, if the org requires it. NOTE: All sign-ups for orgs will be conducted through the Google Forms. Wait for the confirmation of your registration don’t forget to check your email!

Why are application fees needed?
Application fees are collected by some organizations in order to fund their start of year initiatives such as their screening processes and welcoming events as well as other projects they plan to implement throughout the year. In addition, orgs that work with certain sectors (i.e. orgs under sector-based clusters) use the proceeds of these fees to supplement the projects and services they intend to offer to their partner communities
What are application fees?
Application fees, from its name, are payments charged by some organizations as a part of their application process. Do note that, generally, registration fees do not guarantee a slot in the organization being applied to. The price of application fees vary per org however, for COA RecWeek 2022, the maximum amount that an organization can charge for registration is capped at Php 100.

Which orgs collect application fees? As mentioned earlier, some organizations require their applicants to pay for these fees You can find out which orgs collect application fees in pages 28 38 of this primer! Modes of Payment Application fees would be sent through each org ’ s internal processes (such as GCash, Maya, etc.) Details regarding the bank account and/or Gcash number will be provided on the application form and proof of payment is required before submitting the application form See the picture below for reference!

Each org project is organized by a core team that is in charge of planning and executing the project. Headed by Project Manager/s (also known as Project Head/s), the core team consists of different departments such as Programs, Finance, Marketing, Logistics, and Secretariat. However, depending on the type of project, the departments included in the core teams may vary.
These stand for Executive Board and Central Board, respectively. EB is composed of the President and the Vice Presidents for each org department such as External Relations, Human Resources and Finance. The CB, also known as Managerial Board, consists of the EB members as well as their respective Assistant Vice Presidents and/or Deputies who serve as the second-in-command to the EB.

EB & CB

IC In ICs or Individual Consultations, an org member privately talks with their org mate, who is usually an org officer. These informal and casual talks could tackle questions and concerns about different matters, may they be org related or not. ICs could also be a simple kumustahan session!
The Office for Student Activities (OSA) is the student formation office that guides and supports the orgs in planning and implementing their initiatives. They also ensure that the org initiatives uphold the values and thrusts of Ateneo.
OSA The SWOT also known as SWOT Analysis Framework highlights the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of different subject matters. This framework is commonly used by orgs to examine the projects implemented, the performance of the EB and/or CB and the organization as a whole. SWOT

From the name itself, Tambay Week is a week long event that org members can join to meet new people, and hangout with one another through engaging in games and activities. It also welcomes new members and allows them to get to know the organization more.
Tambay Week
MVP refers to Manuel V. Pangilinan Center for Student Leadership building which is located at the Red Brick Road This holds individual org rooms where most orgs and their members used to tambay and conduct their meetings and member bondings before the pandemic! We are excited to see what MVP will be used for in this newer normal and how, eventually, org rooms will and can be brought back to life while maintaining COVID 19 protocol. MVP
PlanSem/PlevSem
In PlanSem (Planning Seminar) or PlevSem (Planning and Evaluation Seminar), the members of the Executive Boards and/or Central Boards meet to present their project plans and visions for their departments. They also conduct evaluations of the organization based on the past year.

Interviews are one on one assessments utilized by organizations to get to know their applicants and members better! They are an essential part of the application processes of most organizations. In these interviews, you are given the potential to select your preferred department within the organization, assess the skills you want to hone, learn more about the organization, and clarify any questions and concerns you may have What are interviews? Organizations usually have their own set of interview questions, but common ones revolve around your strengths and weaknesses, your application form, your reasons for applying, and your expectations for the organization! Interviews may also contain situationers to gauge your response to certain situations. Applicants are usually given the freedom to pick and sign up for an interview slot. What can you expect?

The number of GAs, meetings, and interviews you’ll be attending might get overwhelming. To avoid any overlaps or issues, properly jot down the dates and time slots of your interviews to secure your attendance! Update your 1calendar! 2 Don't be afraid to ask questions! Org life isn’t the easiest to navigate, but rest assured that people around you are willing to assist you! Whether it’s about application steps or other requirements, don’t hesitate to ask for help and seek clarification. 3 Come prepared! As we transition back to face to face RecWeek, make sure that you ’ ve come prepared with whatever items you need to bring for your interview. It would also help to wear a nice, comfortable outfit that would enhance your confidence for the interview.

4 Get ready for your interview! Before your interview, make sure to review each org ’ s respective primers and do your own research as well— familiarize yourself with their advocacies and initiatives! It would also help to review your own written application and/or CV/resume as some interviewers ask questions directly related to them. You may also write down possible questions and practice answering them on your own. The topics you’ll cover may include: strengths, weaknesses, related experiences, priorities this year, and reasons for choosing the organization. Stay calm and relaxed during the interview itself. Though interviews can be nerve-racking, have confidence in yourself! After all, you did your best to prepare well for it Interviews are just a way to get to know you better, so relax and be yourself!

armina Garcia (4 AB Political Science) s also nice to personally hear from students who are veterans at interviews and applications! Here are some testimonials from org ctive students with experiences that range from onsite to online!

Given that I was new in the Ateneo org life, I decided to begin by applying to orgs that are in line with my passions and principles. In these orgs, I built up the courage to apply for positions that pique my interest and complement my skillset. Fortunately, I have discovered orgs where I could freely be myself and learn from my mistakes
Joining orgs has honestly changed my life given that it aided in my growth by equipping me with relevant knowledge, experiences, connections, and skills. It has made me realize the potential person I could be in years to come. All it took is for me to have the courage to explore and exhibit my capabilities to other people.
#HoningHorizons
As one of the first batch of students who have experienced entering college online, I did not join organizations/orgs in my first year. I did so because I wanted to first learn the ropes of being a college student in the new online learning environment. I did not want to enter organizations and handle multiple things when I do not even know yet how to handle one i.e. my academics I first made sure to excel in my academics back in my freshman year and when I did, I began joining orgs in my sophomore year.
