The more you learn, the less you know. This about sums up my perspective on lifelong learning. You’re never done discovering new things, challenging your current perspective, and working to understand new thoughts and concepts. As I write this, I have just completed a 15-day fast. You heard me right. Only water, electrolytes, and a little bit of coffee for 15 days. No ribeyes, eggs, or snacks. Just time to reflect and restore. It gave me a whole new perspective on what is possible. We think we can’t do so many things, but we’re capable of so much more than we can imagine So many friends and colleagues followed my fasting journey in disbelief “I could never give up food for two weeks” was their frequent reaction My reply was “But you could if you set your mind to it!”
The mind is powerful! As long as you think you can, you can do anything. I had previously not gone this long without food. I’d successfully done a 7-day fast anda10-dayfast,butnevera15-dayfast.Itwasreally tough.Butwecandohardthings. Iwasamazedbytheclarity, strength, andenergyIfelt everyday Itallowedmetoconnectwithmyfaithand myself I broke my fast with some chicken bone broth witheggdrops, beefpattieswithparmesancheeseand butter, and some dry-aged salami, and never felt better. I lost about 10 lbs., but weight loss was certainlynotthegoal.
One of the advantages of fasting is the repair process, called autophagy. Autophagy is your body’s natural process for cellular cleanup Think of it like taking out the trash and recycling all the broken or worn-out parts of your cells so they don’t pile up and cause problems It literally means “self-eating,” but in a good way. Your cells break down and get rid of stuff they don’t need anymore, and then reuse some of those parts to stay healthy.
Autophagy is primarily active when you fast, exercise, or are under mild stress (like a cold plunge). It helps reduce inflammation, may slow aging, and is thought to lower the risk of diseases like cancer or Alzheimer’s by clearing out the “junk” inside your cells
Autophagy is your body’s built-in way to clean, repair, and stay sharp, kind of like spring cleaning, but happening inside your cells.
This fall, I’m going to keep trying new things, learning new ways of thinking, and testing my limits every day. I may try an even longer fast or add cold plunging to my routine. I invite you to challenge yourself and rethink your beliefs about what’s doable and what’s ‘crazy’ because they’re not as far apart as you might think

A New Approach to Allergies: Old recommendations often suggested delaying allergenic foods like nuts and eggs. However, more recent research suggests that introducing a variety of foods, including common allergens, between four and six months of age may actually help reduce the risk of food allergies. This highlights a move toward a more proactive, rather than a restrictive, approach to achild’sdiet
A carnivore-based diet for infants naturally raises valid questions about nutrient sufficiency. A smart, science-backedapproachaddressesthesedirectly
Vitamin C: One of the most common concerns is a lack of Vitamin C. While it’s true that fruits and vegetables are the most well-known sources, fresh organ meats like liver, are a rich source of Vitamin C. Additionally, emerging research suggests that because glucose and Vitamin C share the same cellular transport mechanisms, the body’s need for Vitamin C may be lower in the absence of carbohydrates Nonetheless, a prudent approach is to monitor andconsidersupplementationifneeded.
Fiber and Digestion: The absence of fiber can lead to changes in bowel movements. While a carnivore way of life results in less stool due to low residue, it’s not a sign of “rotting food” as some critics claim. It’s crucial to ensure your child remains hydrated and that their digestive comfortisapriority
Unique Family Needs: If your family has a history of certain health conditions, such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders, or food allergies, a carnivore-based diet may be particularly supportive. However, this is precisely why a personalized approach is vital. The“one-size-fits-all”approachtodiethasfailed many, and for some, an ancestral, animal-based way of eating may provide a strong foundation forhealth.
The Bottom Line: Consult Your Healthcare Professional
Dr Kiltz believes that carnivore is right for all ages, starting on the breast with breast milk and moving to meat off the bone. This sets a healthy metabolic trajectory for life, but he recognizes that an individualizedapproachthatprioritizesyourchild’s unique wellness needs is the most responsible approach
Before making any changes to your child’s diet, please consult with a qualified pediatrician who can provide personalized guidance, monitor for any potential deficiencies, and ensure that your child is receiving all the nutrientsnecessaryforhealthygrowthanddevelopment
do you really need
The question about supplements often looms large Do you truly need them, or is whole-food nutrition enough? The answer can also depend on your individual metabolic makeup, your health goals, athletic activities, and the type of keto or carnivore diet you’re following. In an ideal world, we’d get all our nutrients from nutrient-dense foods, especially animal-based, whole-food sources But reality isn’t always so simple. Access to organ meats can be limited or unappealing. That’s where thoughtful supplementation steps in, filling gaps without replacingbalancedmeals.
Certain nutrients are notoriously hard to get in sufficient amounts from food alone. A prime example: vitamin D. Around 40% of the U.S. population is vitamin D-deficient. And it's common for people to under-consume minerals like magnesium or omega-3 fatty acids unless they intentionallyincludespecificfoodsintheirdiets
So,whileawell-roundeddietisthebestfoundation, targeted supplementation can help fill nutritional gaps, especially for nutrients where deficiency is common
A meat, salt, and water carnivore elimination diet will likely require supplementing with vitamin C and potassium after amonthorso. However,a
nose-to-tail carnivore diet that includes minerarich organ meats like spleen and beef liver, can more than cover your micronutrient bases. In fact, they can even offer an abundance of vitamin C, whichmostpeoplethinkyouneedtogetfromfruit.
Vegetarian keto or vegan keto plans may call for vitamin B and D supplementation While more inclusive Mediterranean keto, pescatarian keto plans can provide all your nutrient needs from your daily whole-food based meals. The value of keto supplements also depends on factors like your age, youractivitylevel, andwhatseasonyou’rein

CommonlyRecommendedSupplements
Based on general guidelines and cumulative evidence:
VitaminD – often low in many adults; supplementation can support bone health, immunesystem, andevenfertility.
Magnesium – over 50% of Americans don’t meet daily needs; deficiency can affect metabolismandneurologicalfunctions.
Omega‑3 fatty acids (e.g., EPA/DHA from fish oil) – beneficial for inflammation, heart health, andfertility.
Folate / B9 – especially for those planning pregnancy; essential for neural tube development(oftendeliveredaspartofprenatal supplements).
Choline – works alongside folate to support fetalneuraldevelopment.
Multivitamin – as a safety net for those with lessvarieddiets.
For people trying to conceive, certain supplements havestrongevidence:
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) – supports egg quality in women; improves sperm count and motility inmen.
VitaminD – fertility-related outcomes improve whendeficiencyisaddressed;insufficientlevels may hamper reproductive function in both sexes
Inositol, fish oil, magnesium, N acetyl cysteine (NAC), carnitine, zinc, B vitamins, selenium, CoQ10, folate, vitaminE – all frequently included in fertility protocols for both women andmen.
DHEA – often used for women over 40 or those with diminished ovarian reserve; may improve eggquantityandqualityovertime.
ElectrolytesAreKey
Shifting to low-carb and zero-carb diets like keto or carnivore means less insulin and more water and sodium loss; maintaining electrolytes is vital. Most people on carnivore or keto benefit from supplementing with magnesium, potassium, and salt, especiallyintheearlyweeks
Asuggestedregimenincludes:
Magnesiumcitrate,around400mg
Potassium citrate, 99mg per dose (use with caution)
Salt 5 to 12g daily during initial adaptation (droppingto~5glater).
VitaminC&Potassium
On a strict carnivore diet (meat, salt, water only), some individuals may need vitamin C and of course, potassiumafterseveralweeksduetolackof plant-sourcednutrients
OrganMeatSupplements
If you’re not eating nose-to-tail (including organ meats), you may miss out on nutrients like B12, vitamin A, copper, zinc, selenium, and more. Organ meat supplements can be used to compensate and ensurenutrientbreadthfitsketo/carnivoregoals.

Supplementation becomes a smart safety net for those with limited nutrient intake or increased needs (pregnancy, restrictive diets, fertility concerns).
Keto and carnivore diets, especially when restrictive, come with distinct deficiencies electrolyte support and possibly supplemental vitamin C or organ-derived micronutrients may be prudent.
The best approach? Personalized planning with healthcare professionals, ideally guided by blood testsandlifestylecontext,notone-size-fits-all.

Welcome to the world of fasting, a powerful, timetested health strategy that’s built right into our DNA It’s not a fad. It’s not starving yourself. And it’s definitely not dangerous when done right. Today, we eat constantly. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in between. The body rarely gets a break from insulin spikes and digestion, and we’re seeing the results: obesity, diabetes, brain fog, and chronic inflammation WhatHappenstoYourBodyDuringaMulti-Day Fast?
When you fast, your body activates powerful metabolicprocesseshourbyhour
Fastingisareturntotherhythmour bodiesweredesignedfor.
0–4Hours:TheAnabolicPhase
Right after eating, your body focuses on digesting and absorbing nutrients On a low-carb or carnivore-style diet, your body continues burning fat for energy. This is the time when insulin rises tomanagebloodsugarandstoreenergy
4–16Hours:FatMobilization&EarlyKetosis
Your body continues mobilizing fat for fuel, producingketonesintheprocess.Thisisalsowhen autophagy, the natural “cellular cleanup” process, kicks in, helping remove damaged cells and recycling components to make your system run moreefficiently.
16–24Hours:HormoneBoosts&Autophagy
Deeper into your fast, fat-burning continues, and autophagy strengthens. Human growth hormone (HGH) spikes, protecting muscle mass while encouraging fat loss Cortisol decreases, helping lower stress on your system This is a powerful repair window that many people target with daily intermittentfasting.
24–72Hours:Ketosis&BrainBenefits
After a full day without food, ketones become your body’s primary fuel source. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) rises, supporting brain health, focus, and even mood Many people report mental clarity and increased energy here proof that fasting isn’t just about weight loss, but about optimizingbodyandmind.
72+Hours:DeepRenewal
Once you pass three days, fasting enters profound repair mode. Stem cell pathways activate, helping regenerate tissues. Inflammation decreases significantly, and your immune system gets a “reset” While extended fasts aren’t for everyone, they can unlock healing processes your body doesn’taccessduringregulareatingpatterns.
Fasting isn’t just about skipping meals, it’s about tapping into your body’s built-in healing cycles Whether you fast for 16 hours or go longer, each phasecomeswithitsownsetofuniquebenefits.
Before considering a prolonged fast, please check withyourdoctor.
1. Start Slow
If you ’ ve never fasted, don’t jump into a 72-hour fast. Begin with intermittent fasting 16:8 (fast for 16 hours, eat during an 8-hour window), then build up to 24-hour fasts
2 Fat Adapt First
If you’re already eating a high-fat, low-carb diet (like Keto or Carnivore), you’re in a great spot. Your body already knows how to burn fat efficiently, which makes fasting easier.
3. Stay Hydrated + Salted
Water is a must, but electrolytes are your best friend. Drink mineral-rich water or supplement with sea salt, potassium, and magnesium to avoid fatigue or headaches
4 Listen to Your Body
Mild hunger is expected But dizziness, confusion, or intense weakness are not. If something feels off, break the fast and try again later.
5. Break Your Fast Gently
After 48+ hours, your gut is in rest mode. Ease back in with bone broth, soft protein, or small portions of easily digestible foods.
Proper Hydration with Electrolytes - super important for preventing headaches and a lack of energy. Bone broth is great, too.
Move your body with light walks or stretching.
Stay busy fasting is often easier when you’re occupied and not obsessing over food.
Drink black coffee or tea to suppress appetite and boost mental clarity.

My name is Peter Cutler and I am a proud member of Kiltz Mighty Tribe. I am also known throughout the Carnivore Community as “Papacarnivore.” Here is my CarnivoreHealingStory:
I am 63 years old and I’ve been a Carnivore since February1,2023,or21/2years.IliveinBocaRaton, FloridaandI’minRetailFurnitureSales.
When I started Carnivore, I was morbidly obese at over 300 lbs with a BMI of 40+ and I was suffering with a wide variety of physical and mental illnesses andconditionsincludingType2diabetes,fattyliver disease, highbloodpressure, acidreflux,IBS,chronic arthritis, gout, fatigue, sleep apnea, bipolar depression, anxiety, ADHD, and a lot more and I was taking a handful of medications every day I was unhappy, hopeless and felt powerless to do anythingaboutmyhealthandmylife.
Well, here I am now 30 months later after finding Carnivore… down 101 lbs. to 199 lbs., my lowest weight since I was 19 years old and I went from a size44to34pants
And more importantly, ALL of the above physical andmentalhealthconditionshavebeenreversed,
cured or are in complete remission for 2 years, and I’m off all meds except for one thyroid med, (Levothyroxin) for mild hypothyroidism that I’ve hadsinceIwas25.
I’m now Happy, Healthy & Hopeful, which I call “The 3 H’s of a Proper Human Diet” and my energy is literally off the charts!! I feel better than I’ve felt since I was in my early 20’s all thanks to deciding to adoptandfollowaCarnivoreDietandLifestyle.
My goal now is to do everything in my power to help as many people as I can to find the same physical and mental healing, wellness and peace thatI’vefoundthroughCarnivore.

In 2012, I started doing at home workouts. I went from 292 pounds to 212 pounds in 4 years. I ate a low-fat diet with plenty of plant foods and low red meat.
In 2016, I had issues with my heart My doctor took meoffmyworkoutandthewayIwaseatingtorule that out as the cause. So, back to the SAD diet I went.
To fix my issue, I had heart surgery in 2017 My weight was just over 240 pounds when I had surgery. I had extreme anxiety and never went backtomyworkoutroutine.
In Summer 2020, my blood pressure was high 220/120 Over the next 3 years I was put on 5 BP meds to get this under control, or close to it 130's/85-95. Each med had a "slight risk of weight gain," except for me. I hit my top weight of 347 poundsinDec2024.
I was put on a med to help me lose weight in Dec 2024 Managed to lose 12 pounds in 8 months Sometime in June 2025, I saw a video on the carnivore diet. I kept seeing this one guy and decidedtolookintohisvideosmore.
Then I did a deep dive with the carnivore doctors until August 22, 2024. That’s when I started my CarnivoreJourneyandIwasat335pounds.
I had not packed a lunch that day and called my wife to bring me 4 quarter pound patties from McDonald’s. Yes, I started my carnivore journey withMcDonald’s.
I was convinced this way of eating would help my blood pressure In the first 6 weeks I was able to come off all 5 medications. My doctor helped with thelast2astheyweremaxdosesofthemedication.

WhydidIstartcarnivore?Honestly, itbeganwitha desperate desire to lose weight. Nothing else had worked. I had cried more times than I can count, tryingeverythingIcould
During my first pregnancy, I gained about 80 pounds After that, the weight kept creeping up At my heaviest, I believe I was around 224 pounds I got pregnant with my second child, Bryana, at that weight.Funnythingis,Iactuallylostweightduring that pregnancy, mainly due to issues with eating. For years after having kids, I felt physically miserable
I tried to stick to Keto for five years. I kept thinking, “I’m eating healthy, so why don’t I feel better?” But I didn’t feel better. I didn’t lose weight. I even tried cutting back to lean fish, eggs, and chicken I felt slightly better, but it wasn’t sustainable I gained everything back quickly
I had gut issues like IBS, diarrhea, and pain I couldn’t sleep. At times, I felt like a true insomniac. I had chronic back pain, eczema, irregular and painful periods, constant anxiety, and very low energy. I wasn’t eating the Standard American Diet. I live in Colombia, but I did eat fast food once a week, bread occasionally, arepas (Colombian tortillas), and maybe dessert once a week. Popcorn was my Achilles heel.
However, I didn’t go carnivore for any of those reasons I just wanted to lose weight I thought the rest of my symptoms were just part of “getting older,”eventhoughIwasstillinmy30s.
Then I binged some YouTube videos and finally tooktheplungeonMarch1,2023.Myonlygoalwas weightloss Ihadnoideawhatelsewouldchange
Day1: 209pounds Icommittedto90days
Day 3: I had more energy and was sleeping better. I feltlikeanormalhumanagain.
Day 5-7: I was cleaning the house and taking the kids to the park something I hadn’t done in very often due to pain and exhaustion My husband had carried the household burden for so long I was thrilled to be scrubbing the shower floor and feelinggood.
Day 12: 85% of my chronic back and shoulder pain gone.I’dlivedwiththatpainfor15years.
Day 21: My period arrived without warning no cramps, no pain. I was stunned. I’d suffered debilitating period pain my whole life. I later learned it was likely endometriosis. Carnivore gave me the most normal cycles I’ve ever had I now know:womendon’thavetosuffer Wejustneedthe rightfood.Andyetsomanyofuscontinuetosuffer.
Around Day 90: A C-section scar that had never healed properly finally did. It had been inflamed and sometimes oozing. This was ongoing for years. Another thing I thought I would just have to live with.

The funny part? I only lost about 20 pounds But what I gained was *everything.* Carnivore was integraltogivingmemylifeback.
When you take care of yourself, you can take care of everyone else. I’ve been a committed carnivore for25yearsandhavehonestlyneverfeltbetter
Shortly after launching my YouTube channel, I felt a strong pull to start sharing stories from others in the carnivore community. That’s when I met my now very good friend Kerry Mann Jr. from Homestead How, and we began collaborating on various projects. One of the biggest was a 24-hour livestream, a fundraiser for his Healing Humanity Project (we raised $40K in 24 hours, which happened to take place on my 40th birthday) That stream was actually my idea, and Dr. Kiltz was one ofourfeaturedguests.
I was so excited to talk with Dr. Kiltz that I ended up cutting off everyone else in the livestream to chat with him Something about our conversation resonateddeeplywithme.
