Welcome to Miramar and Pembroke Pines! The Miramar Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce has been serving this area for over 50 years, promoting local businesses, encouraging economic development, offering training resources, fostering the relationships business leaders need to grow, and being the voice of the business community.

For the last two years, it has been my pleasure to serve our members as President of the Chamber. My goal then as it is now is to make our chamber an open and supportive environment for our business leaders to thrive. There will always be someone ready to make an introduction for you and connect you with the resources you’re looking for.

At the end of 2022, we had the honor of being named a Chamber of the Year by our colleagues at the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals. We take pride in what our organization has built in South Broward over the last few years, and we have solid plans to support our 700+ members and other local businesses into the future through leadership and advocacy. Our mission today and in the future is to be a Convener of leaders, a Catalyst for positive change, and a Champion for strong communities.

Since the pandemic, our local economy has shown its resilience - new businesses are opening their doors, small businesses are growing, and we see success stories through our chamber every day. More and more, new residents are coming to our area and choosing to raise their families in this community because of everything it has to offer.

You can also discover extensive creative programming and community destinations designed to fit your lifestyle rhythms. For example, if you’ve got a heart for the arts, check out the Miramar Cultural Center / ArtsPark. The center includes an 800seat theatre, as well as a banquet hall, gallery, and botanical garden. Throughout the year the center is home to a vibrant programming calendar, including musicals, conferences, and culinary events.

If the day calls for shopping, dining, or both, there’s much to do at the Shops at Pembroke Gardens. This outdoor locale features over 75 retailers, from boutiques to

salons and shoe stores. And when it comes to dining - pizza, tacos, sushi, ceviche - you’ll find it all here, along with plenty of sweet treats, too. You can enjoy a leisurely dinner and do a bit of browsing and meandering, without having to venture far from home.

Miramar and Pembroke Pines also offer a wide range of community programming for all ages. In Miramar, there’s the Miramar Police Athletic League, or PAL. Miramar PAL works with the Miramar Police Department and City of Miramar to provide mentoring and athletic programming for ages 3-17. Through PAL’s mentoring program, kids learn the value of education, fitness, and leadership. From soccer leagues to community service projects, Miramar PAL is invested in our community’s youth development and future. And in Pembroke Pines, seniors can find an array of engaging programming at the Southwest Focal Point Community Center. The center’s dynamic calendar includes activities for all interests, like pottery classes, creative writing workshops, language courses, and fitness classes. The center also provides helpful assistance for seniors, such as health screenings and transportation.

As an entrepreneur and the owner of a printing company, Jose Alvarado has not only watched his own dreams flourish, but those of his clients, as well. ADP Printing & Signs has been in business for over 20 years, with services throughout the region and headquarters in Miramar.

ADP provides extensive printing and design support, including business cards, promotional products, and neon signs. Over the years, Jose’s clients have spanned a wide range of industries, from healthcare to food and dining.

And along with major corporate clients, Jose has worked with many small business owners at the start of their entrepreneurial journey. Says Jose of the entrepreneurial spirit, “There is something with businessminded people. It doesn’t matter what happens. They may fail the first time, the second time, and they still try.”

Jose describes what it means to have been a part of the journey from the beginning: “You start with a concept. You know the name and you put the letters on the wall, and then you see the process. When you have it all lit up or you drive by at night and you see how beautiful it is, it’s very rewarding.”

For Glam Perception in Pembroke Pines, entrepreneurship runs in the family. The company is led by mother-daughter team Joliana Medina and Angeliana Converso. Glam Perception provides a wide range of beauty services, including facials, laser hair removal, and cosmetic teeth whitening.

For the Glam Perception team, providing these treatments is about much more than a day of pampering - it’s about celebrating their clients and the beauty that’s already there. Says Angeliana, “We don’t only care about the treatment. We care about enhancing your own beauty and your secureness.”

Angeliana describes Glam Perception as not only family-owned, but a family

environment. It’s common for the team to see clients book sessions with other family members, from sisters to mothers and daughters. Over the years the team has also worked with women who are walking through difficult seasons in their lives, from the uncertainty of moving to a new location to navigating a serious illness.

For Angeliana, offering a listening ear, comfort, and encouragement is just as important as providing the service itself. Says Angeliana of Glam Perception’s clientele, “They come here because they feel at peace. They feel beautiful; they feel enough. They feel loved here.”

In addition to their beauty services, Glam Perception offers professional development classes for women who are already licensed in the beauty industry. The Economic Development & Housing Department (EDH) partners with major organizations like SCORE Broward, Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Atlantic University (SBDC-FAU), Small Business Administration (SBA), Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development, and the Miramar Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce to provide training, expert consulting services, and funding assistance to local businesses.

Small Business Mentors

SCORE mentors offer area-specific advice at no cost (financing, human resources, business planning) via email, telephone, and video. SCORE mentors, all experts in entrepreneurship and related fields, meet with their small business clients on an ongoing basis to provide continued advice and support. SCORE provides a wide range of services, including courses on demand, a library of online resources and customized training, webinars and online workshops designed for Miramar businesses.

The Alliance (gflalliance.org) is Broward County’s official public/private partnership for economic development. Its mission is to lead Broward County in building a stronger and more diverse economy by stimulating the creation of new jobs and capital investment while facilitating the growth and retention of businesses in Broward County. Services offered by the Alliance include assistance with business relocation or expansion and site selection; incentive programs and information; market research.

SBDC-FAU Programs deliver professional, high quality, individualized business advising and technical assistance to existing small businesses and pre-venture entrepreneurs. SBDC-FAU expert consultants provide problem-solving assistance to help small businesses access capital, develop and exchange new technologies, and improve business planning.

Also based in Miramar is Rosalia’s Kitchen. The inspiration for this familyowned restaurant hails back to their elder’s restaurant in Sicily nearly 100 years ago. Rosalia’s Kitchen features culinary gems from all regions surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, along with Latin American dishes and some very delightful desserts. With a business founded on family and the joy of food, Rosalia’s Kitchen is a shining example of local entrepreneurship.

THE NEW “IT GIRL” IN TOWN

A memorable meal is one that’s thoughtfully developed and created with great care - and that’s what diners are sure to find at the table of Rosalia’s Kitchen in Miramar. Says co-owner Rafael Brazon Di-Fatta, “Rosalia’s Kitchen is a place built from love, with food made with devotion and passion that you can taste.”

The story began nearly 100 years ago in Italy, in the kitchen of Rafael’s grandmother, Rosalia. What started out as one homecooked meal for a friend grew into a steady stream of requests from the neighbors. Rosalia’s culinary gifts and entrepreneurial spirit helped plant the seeds for a humble family-owned restaurant in Sicily, and that love of cooking was passed down through generations.

The family would eventually make their way to Venezuela, and then to sunny South Florida. In 2017, Rosalia’s Kitchen began to develop, in a very similar way to their journey in Italy decades before. Rafael’s parents began cooking for his colleagues that year, and their creations were met with delight. In 2018 the family launched a catering business - lovingly called Rosalia’s Kitchen - and in late 2022, the doors of Rosalia’s Kitchen’s first brick and mortar restaurant opened.

Rosalia’s Kitchen’s menu features the flavors of the Mediterranean, as well as fusion culinary favorites. You’ll find dishes inspired by the regions bordering the Mediterranean Sea, like Italy, France, Greece, and Israel. Try a Moroccan chicken slider, honey harissa shrimp, or a plate of limoncello meatballs. Veggie lovers will also find plenty to dive into - like the iconic Greek dish, spanakopita - along with

abundant, decadent salads and a selection of vegan dishes.

If there’s one specific dish that Rafael recommends, however, it’s the CranberryPinot Noir Meatballs. During Rosalia’s Kitchen’s founding years as a catering business, this indulgent dish was one of the first to grace their menu. Says Rafael, “That dish has a special place in our hearts. It’s sweet and tangy, and so delicious that we always tell everyone that they must try them!”

Speaking of catering, Rosalia’s Kitchen continues to offer their extensive catering services. Their menu features

an array of dynamic dishes, along with gorgeous presentation. From beautiful hors d’oeuvres to decadent desserts, your guests are sure to leave nourished and happy.
