I would like to extend a warmwelcometo each of you, your families and friends to 2025 at Club Rivers. I hope that you all enjoyed spending time with your families over the Christmas and New Year period.
On behalf of the board of directors I am pleased to submit my report and present our financial accounts for 2024. Our Club has had another solid year of trade despite the eects of a high inflationary environment on the Club’s operations. This year we achieved a $6,315,528 profit before tax for 2024 (unaudited figures), which was again a sensational result.
Your club’s board and management continue to look towards the future of the club with an ongoing focus on the strengthening of operations while ensuring your club remains an enjoyable, safe and viable environment for all members and guests to enjoy.
To the passionate team at Mikes who continue to create quality dining experiences for our members and guests, thank you for your continued commitment and humble hospitality. We look forward to another year working together as a team.
We are delighted to welcome to the Club Rivers family the Jade Swan Restaurant led by Jordan Wu and his dedicated team. Now open the Jade Swan is a vibrant new dining experience which brings a unique and exciting new culinary journey to Riverwood. Members and guests can look forward to exceptional service and a menu featuring freshly prepared Yum Cha dishes alongside an a la carte menu bursting with the finest fresh seafood. With something to satisfy every taste I urge you to visit The Jade Swan, you won’t be disappointed.
As the club continues to embrace its commitment to sustainable energy, the replacement of the solar system on the Club’s roof was completed in December.
The outlay on the project was $80,000, with an expected return on investment (ROI) of four years. After this period, the club anticipates osetting a significant portion of its electricity usage through the new system into the future.
I also wish to congratulate our CRCommuniTEAM, they continue to do great work not only for local organisations, but also the broader community. Your Board, Management and especially our team continue give countless hours of ’voluntary service’ where it is needed most. The volunteer eorts of our team, who continually want to give back is really quite inspiring. It is also the very essence of why our clubs began all those years ago. Further in this edition you will find out what our CR CommuniTEAM have been up to recently.
Don’t forget ANZAC Day is fast approaching. Further details are in this edition together with other great events and promotions.
I once again extend my appreciation to all Board Members, Club CEO Paul Millar, the management team and sta for their professionalism, commitment, contributions and assistance throughout the year.

As we reflect on another year gone by, our club has not only been a place for our members to enjoy excellent experiences with friends and family but also a pillar of support for the local community. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that we play a positive and impactful role and continue to increase our commitment to a variety of local programs and sporting organisations.
In 2024, we reached several milestones that we are incredibly proud of, both in terms of hands-on support for those in need and financial contributions and assistance.
One of the core values of our club is to give back, and this year, we were able to do so on a larger scale than ever before. Through various fundraising events, we contributed almost $500,000 to local organisations. These funds went to causes close to the hearts of our community, such as supporting youth programs, mental health initiatives, patient transport, support of returned service operations for men and women and local sporting organisations.
Through our Club Rivers CommuniTeam volunteer program, our sta dedicated over 520 hoursto assist local organisations in need.
A key focus of our community contribution has always been to support local junior sporting teams. We know that sport is not just about competition, it fosters community spirit, builds teamwork, and provides healthy outlets for our youth. This year, we again proudly sponsored multiple local teams and provided funding to keep registrations aordable for families, making sure our community continues to thrive both on and o the field.
To our members, supporters, and sta I want to say thank you. It is through your contributions, whether big or small, that we have been able to achieve all that we have this year.
We look forward to another year wherewe are proud to have the opportunity to serve those who serve others. We remain committed to doing so in the spirit in which the club was founded as The Riverwood Legion and Community Club.
I hope to see you around the Club in 2025.

In a major step toward sustainability we have significantly increased the Club's rooftop solar capacity, now boasting an impressive 100kW system powered by 198 new solar panels. This upgrade completed in December, is not just a win for the environment—it’s also set to bring substantial financial benefits to our club.
With the new solar installation, we expect to save approximately $22,000 annually on electricity bills, with a return on investment (ROI) projected within just four years. The move aligns with the club’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while also cutting operational costs.
Beyond the financial perks, the environmental impact is equally noteworthy. By generating clean energy, this solar system will help avoid harmful emissions typically produced by power plants. To put it in perspective, the environmental benefits of the system are equivalent to planting 2,624 trees each year and preventing the burning of 49,532 kg of coal annually.
At Club Rivers, we believe that the heart of our success lies in the exceponal people who help make every experience memorable for our members. This year, we are proud to celebrate a milestone that speaks to the dedicaon, hard work, and unwavering commitment of our incredible team— 20+ and 25+ years of service for several of our valued employees and managers.
It’s not every day that you get to honor individuals who have been with us for over two decades, and we’re excited to shine a spotlight on these loyal team members who have helped shape the club into what it is today. From the early days to now, their contribuons have been pivotal in creang a welcoming environment, providing topnotch service, and ensuring that every guest feels like part of the Club Rivers family. Their longevity is a testament to their passion for the job, their growth within the company, and their dedicaon to our members. Their knowledge, leadership, and mentorship connue to shape the next generaon of team members at Club Rivers. Please join us in congratulang these members of our fantasc team for their outstanding service and dedicaon. We thank them for their many years of hard work, and we look forward to many more years of success together.

Supporting our local Community is what makes us most proud at CR. To be able to assist children from our local schools start the year o on the right foot is life changing for some. Imagine if you didn’t have all the necessary items to start o the new school year? For the past 5 years our team volunteer their time to help pack over 500 school back packs and delivered them to our local schools. This year the SRC (School Representative Council) from Narwee PS made it a school initiative for students and families to contribute to the items for the back packs. This is community spirit at its best, where students and families are prepared to help those less fortunate in their own school community. Well done to the school community from Narwee PS.
To celebrate International Day of Persons with a Disability, we had the honour of hosting the NSW Premier, Chris Minns at the Autism Community Network monthly adult social dinner in December 2024. Mr Minns chatted and engaged with the group. He spoke about the importance of groups like this and praised ACN for all the great work they do with young adults on the spectrum.
RUOK Day – September 2024
Coming together as a group in very important for everyone’s metal health. Providing our team with resources about how to start a conversation and reassuring them we are always open to have a conversation is valuable in our workplace. It encourages our sta to look out for each other, which in turn builds a stronger team.
"Club Rivers has been a strong supporter of local sporting clubs for many years now," said CEO Paul Millar.
"We proudly work with numerous sporting organisations, understanding these partnerships are beneficial and contribute positively to the community.

"We would also like to proudly acknowledge the dedication of the volunteers in organisations such as St George Basketball that work tirelessly to continue their work as ambassadors, playing a unique and leading role in promoting inclusiveness, diversity, and community cohesion through sport," Millar said.
"Club Rivers remains absolutely committed to working with partners in our sporting community such as St George Basketball to build an inclusive platform that will sustain community sport participation well into the future," he said.
"Our long partnership with Club Rivers is an important part of our ability to oer basketball to the community. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Club Rivers," said St George Basketball President, Ray Barbi.
"Without a true home of our own, and, without the financial support of Club Rivers we would not be able to oer basketball at all levels for all ages," said St George Basketball Treasurer, George Aliferis
"It's rewarding to have Club Rivers dedicated to helping us provide basketball in the area for players to enjoy basketball just for fun or play at competitive levels," said St George Basketball General Manager Valerie Stoddart.
St George Basketball would like to thank Club Rivers for their continuous support over the last several years and are eager to see this partnership grow.
ArtsLife is a program that aims to give everyone in our community access to aordable, high quality arts experiences including, dance, drama, music and visual art.
Operated by Georges River Life Care, Club Rivers is proud to support this wonderful program. Now in its 10th year, this amazing creative arts program helps disadvantaged kids from our local area flourish through arts. We recently had the pleasure of attending an end of year performance, the pride, confidence and growth displayed was truly heart warming. Well done.
Our very own CR Santa loves attending the ACN (Autism Community Network) annual Xmas Party at Oatley park. He spreads the Xmas joy, with a lot of Ho Ho Ho ing, ringing of his bell and some small treats for the kids. Everyone always wants a photo with Santa as well. It is a very exciting day for many kids and the smiles on the faces says it all.
Our incredible team participated in this gruelling and challenging event in support of Waterfall Rural Bush Fire Brigade, where collectively they managed to raise $4K. 13 CR team members and 2 Waterfall Brigade members conquered this very tough obstacle course. Their motto was “No Man or Woman will be left behind”. From scaling a 5 meter muddy wall, to dredging through freezing cold muddy water, they all completed the course with pride. The teamwork, encouragement and support they provided each other was inspirational and the reason we have such a strong community minded team at CR.
A huge thank you to all our CR sta who contributed $25 from their hard earned pays to donated to the GRLC Xmas appeal. CR volunteers also went shopping for gifts to cover all age groups. Our team then volunteered at the GRLC centre on pick up day, where we helped distribute hampers, Xmas gifts and made over 200 coees for the Community. To say we have the best team is an understatement.
Not only are our sta amazing but our Members are also so thoughtful and generous. All these gifts pictured were donated by our Members and delivered to RCC who distribute them to families in need for the Xmas period. Without the support of our awesome CR members, contributions like this cannot happen. A very huge heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our CR Members who contributed.
Join us for our 10th year of contributing to this event. This year we will be focussing on our own local area and surrounds, making an eort to Clean Up or own backyard. We will provide you with everything you need, bags, gloves and pickers. We would love for you, your family, and friends to join our team and make a dierence in our community.
