gap year - japanese competition - duration : 5 month - design by the architect M. WANG
Lors d’un stage de 5 mois dans une agence d’architecture à Taïwan, j’ai eu pour mission de proposer une réponse au concours japonais Timberize. Ce projet n’avait qu’un prérequis: faire plus de 50m de haut et être entièrement conçu en bois. La tour que nous avons d’abord dessinée se composait de 5 unités identiques, avec une structure périphérique en poteaux tridimentionnels. J’ai, grâce à ce stage, pu en apprendre beaucoup plus sur le bois et réaliser de nombreux tests morphologiques très intéressants.

During a 5-month internship in a Taiwanese architecture agency, I had a mission that consisted in proposing a project for the japanese competition Timberize. This project only had one prerequisite : to be higher than 50m and be made of wood only. The tower we first designed was composed of 5 identical units, with a peripheral structure with wooden three-dimensional columns. Through this internship, I acquired more knowledges on wood and try many different structure shapes for this design.
