Watching over the community
From local and district police, state government and community-driven organisations, all levels responsible for crime prevention and resolution fronted Oakey residents on Saturday to give an update on current statistics and the preferred avenues to report crime and answer questions on possible programs to further reduce crime in the township.
Queensland Police Service (QPS) Country and Support group Inspector for the Darling Downs, Inspector Jason Hopgood, Oakey Police Sergeant John Cook, Glenda Underwood from Oakey Neighbourhood Watch and Member for Condamine Pat Weir at the special community meeting on Saturday. The meeting was hosted by the local Neighbourhood Watch group in response to
increased concerns about crime levels in the Oakey township.
A group of almost 60 interested residents filled the community centre to
hear the facts from QPS representatives. Continued on page 3
