Venture up the wooded drive, through the white gates adorned with angels, to the peaceful chapel built with a combination of salvaged materials from a local church and the talents of local artisans. Travelers feel rejuvenated after spending time at this peaceful sanctuary. Lakeside Church 5419 240th St. | (641) 357-4019 www.oakwoodrvpark.net In 1884, the Ladies Aid Society of Lakeside Church organized to build a proper place of worship to replace the services held at the rural schoolhouse. Six years later, a live Christmas tree was trimmed with strings of popcorn and cranberries and lighted candles, just in time for the first church service to be held. Fully restored with turn of the century furnishings, the church takes you back to a simpler time.

Worship in the Park. Thousands attend Worship in the Park, held in City Park during the summer from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend. Service is at 10 a.m., and all are welcome. The Dock is the contemporary worship center for Zion Lutheran Church, located at 500 Main St. in Clear Lake. Services are Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m., Labor Day to Memorial Day. The services are led by the band with prayer and contemporary songs. The sermon series have useful messages for our world today. The space is also used for some events sponsored by Zion. It seats around 500 with comfortable chairs plus an updated sound and light system. There is a coffee shop with specialty drinks as well as plain coffee and welcoming lobby furniture.
