UTAH STATE SHOOT

BY SEAN HAWLEY

This year’s Utah State Shoot was held at the Vernal Rod and Gun Club in Vernal, UT June 23-27 and as has become the tradition in Vernal, the shoot was a mix of hard fought competition and evening fun. The state tournament rotates between Spanish Fork Gun Club and Vernal every other year. The ammunition shortage seemed to cut down the attendance a bit this year, however shooters who were fortunate enough to attend were treated to two free dinners as well as evening Annie Oakley fun games with added money and a cornhole tournament. The actual tournament saw some great shooting by both In-State and Non-Resident shooters. The weather was a mixed bag—from rain showers to breezy and from cool TRAPSHOOTINGUSA

and overcast to hot and sunny. That’s called Rocky Mountain weather—if you don’t like it, just wait fifteen minutes and it will be different.
