BY KARLA HARRISON Following a long and difficult struggle with state mandated health safety guidelines, the US Open was allowed to return to the World Shooting and Recreational Complex (WSRC) near Sparta, Illinois on June 2-6. Complex Director Lauren Mueller put her staff in motion to prepare for the over 600 shooters who were anxious to get back on the line. A large group of young shooters shot on Saturday as part of the Southern Illinois Youth Shooting Sports Association (SIYSSA) swelling the number of total entries to nearly 500 for the Singles championship event. Vendors were hustling to prepare their permanent buildings in advance of the upcoming AIM and Grand American tournaments and campers took advantage of all the opened TRAPSHOOTINGUSA

campgrounds to be able to stay close to the action.

PRELIMINARY DAYS Wednesday kicked off the ATA program with a modest number of entries in the Budweiser Singles. Perfect scores topped the board, awarding trophies to Reid Winn (Champion), Jack Holland (Sub Junior), Dagen Voigtman (Jr-Gold), Frank Payne (Veteran) and David Sickmeyer (Class A). Little Egypt Golf Cars sponsored the opening Handicap event where Dagen Voigtman bested all others with 95 for the Champion’s award. Kent Frost (runner-up), Tony Jones (3rd), and William Ausbrooks (4th) settled their placements after each

broke 93 in the program. Kenny Wyatt placed 5th with a score of 92. Doubles concluded Wednesday’s program, sponsored by Graf & Sons. Iowa Junior shooter Cole Henning claimed the Champion’s title with 98 while Jack Holland (Sub Junior), Jacob Duren (Junior), Dagen Voigtman (Junior Gold) and Chase Horton (Class AA) all won trophies with scores of 98.

ALL AMERICAN POINTS EVENTS Reid Winn (Champion) continued his winning ways in the Trap & Field Singles on Thursday by breaking a 100 straight. Also taking a trophy with 100 were Ryan Loveless (Junior Gold), Frank Payne (Veteran), Joe

Nehrt (Senior Veteran), Austin Jacob (Class AAA) and Michael Hathaway (Class A). The Trapshooting Hall of Fame Museum has reopened for visitors during shooting events and DAGEN VOIGTMAN
