BUCKEYE OPEN 2021

Many were worried about the background, as the shot curtains were down, but they were replaced in time to begin the 2021 Buckeye Open at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio June 2nd through the 6th.

EARLY ON Event 1, Legacy Restaurant/Bar Singles only had two 100s—Seth Cooper and Dale Bertuzzi Jr. Cooper took Junior Gold and Bertuzzi grabbed Veteran since there wasn’t a Champion trophy offered.The highest class, AAA, was won by Charles Hensley with a 95. In Event 2, the Red Bird Handicap, Gunner Hall from Circleville, OH had the high score of 98 from the 24 yard line.The final event of the day was the Event 3 Fishburn 100 Pair of Doubles. to top the field. There were no competitors for the highest class in this event. Everyone figured it was due to the windy weather and the rain. Thursday started with the Quality Inn Handicap and there was a 100 broken! Junior Gold shooter Emanuel (Manny) Butdorf had it for the win. In the Comfort Inn Singles, Tank Lunsford, Tate Hedrick, and Joe Charnigo each broke 100s and Charnigo won AAA class in the carryover. In AA it was Craig Blank, Ryan Denes, and Steve Corwin. Denes was victorious for the AA class. Dan Schock, Carl Schultz, and Donald Petroff had perfect centuries in A class with Schock winning it. Manny Butdorf broke his second 100 of the day and of his career winning Junior Gold. Michael Roese was the only one in B, as was Richard Henry in Class C. Inn Handicap, Kevin BY JACQUE SNELLENBERGER Sigler, a Sub Veteran, was high with a 97. Friday saw beautiful weather and (Sub Vet), Joel Etchen (Vet), and it showed in the rising number of Gunner Hall (Jr Gold). There was no entries. The first event of the day was carryover, because Charnigo was the the Summer Gobrecht Class Singles. only non category shooter in AAA There were 17 100s broken—five in class. The other top scores took their AAA, seven AA, two in A, two in B, respective categories. and one in C. After the fall out from EMANUAL BUTDORF the carryover into the Championship Singles, Michael Wengerd walked away with AAA, Richard Zombek AA, Dan Schock A, and Scott Berry in B. The category winners with 100 were Madison Oswalt (Sub Jr), Andrew Collins (Jr), Kennet Darroch (Sub Vet), Mike Fredericksen (Vet), Michael Stephenson (Senior Vet), and Summer Gobrecht (Lady I). Mike Federicksen had the high score of 98 in the Joseph Charnigo Handicap. Joe Charnigo broke the high score of 99 in his own Doubles event, along with Dean Townsend
