My name is Claudia Pineda. I was born in Maryland, USA, and grew up between El Salvador and Mallorca, Spain. I hold a Bachelor s degree in Fine Arts (2022) and a Master's degree in Education with a specialization in Plastic Arts (2024).
My artistic approach is multidisciplinary and experimental, incorporating plastic, visual and sound elements to explore and address issues related to bodies of water, gender perspectives, and the movement of body and soul through cross-cultural myths. My aim is to propose a psychic journey through visual imagery. I am also passionate about integrating audiovisual culture into educational settings, creating projects that engage and inspire meaningful social change.
I have conducted art therapy workshops in Madeira, Portugal, and worked in art management for the City Council in Mallorca and Formentera in the Balearic Islands(2021-2024).
My first short film, “The Journey, 1988" (2021), was selected by the ICAA for the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival and featured in other international festivals. Additionally, my video installation "Wandering Woman, Lolita Pineda" (2022) received the Egeria Award for its inclusion in gender perspective.

A personal meditation on the meaning of travel, inspired by the images my grandmother recorded on a trip to China in 1988. Through movement, the film explores the nomadic identity of a rebellious woman. This meditation evolves into an intergenerational dialogue, where I reconstruct and reinterpret these found footage images, creating a personal essay that bridges past and present.

Underwater footage captured between Madeira and Mallorca emphasizes how bodies move with currents and whirlpools.
Inspired by the Water World Theory (2013), which suggests that human life originated in the ocean, the film highlights similarities between human bodies underwater and unicellular organisms.
The internal division of the screen confronts and contemplates this common origin, highlighting the ocean ' s importance and the necessity for humans and nature to coexist.
