A number  of  reasons  to  celebrate MANY people either look forward to the festive pe riod and begin their countdown to Christmas in Oc tober, while others are left running for the hills to avoid  the  ‘silliness’  that  comes  with  the  season. As we get ready to wind down and take a breath er, we decided to reflect on some of the wonderful reasons  to  celebrate  the  year  that  was. Yes,  we  can  talk  about  some  of  the  lowlights as well (no pun on the word ‘lights’), but that would not  be  very  festive  at  all. The team at the Fever has had a wonderful year and has shared some truly remarkable memories with  you.  We’ve had an actionpacked year from meeting wonderful  individuals  who  are  slowly  changing their communities one step at a time to covering campaigns that shows a proactive community who are willing to fight for their beloved home towns. To those people who are continuously going the

extra mile to serve others, we would like to salute you and thank you for allowing us to share your sto ries. This year South Africans voted hoping for the best – many are now glued to the parliament ses sion coverage because you never know what to ex pect. In 2015 we will be joining the queues for the byelections  and  once  again,  hoping  for  positive change. We know we live in a beautiful city and another reason to be a proud Durbanite is Durban has been voted  an  official  new  Seven  Wonder  City  of  the world.  The  picturesque  beaches,  rolling  hills  and breathtaking skyline together with a host of won derful  inhabitants,  sets  us  apart  from  the  rest  of South  Africa. After  40  years,  the  Miss  World  title  is  held  by a  South  African.

Woman shot dead on Mother’s Day Hillcrest Fever

LETHIWE MAKHANYA >>lethiwe.makhanya@media24.com

“I

NEVER thought that one day I would have to bury my daughter. It will take me years to get through this.” These are the words of Ntombizodwa Dlamini’ s father, Lot Ntuli, after his daughter was shot dead in front of her parents and family members at her family home in Bisley on Sunday afternoon. Dlamini was shot by her husband, Sipho Dlamini, who was a prison warder. He later turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head. It is alleged that the couple had gotten into a domestic dispute a day prior to the shooting, which led to Sipho beating Dlamini. Ntuli told Echo that they are still traumatised and they can’t believe that their daughter is no more. Ntuli said that they were relaxing at home, preparing for a big Mother’s Day lunch. “My daughter was supposed to be at work on Sunday but she came to my house with a swollen face and bruises on her body. She told the family that she had been booked off at work because her husband had beaten her up the previous day. My wife then took her to a medical facility where she was treated for bruises and came back home. A short while after coming back from DuziMed, Sipho called my daughter asking her where she was because he had been to the hospital where she worked and she was not there. My daughter then told him that she was at

my house. While we were about to prepare lunch, Sipho arrived and demanded to see Dlamini. I told him that before he can say anything I want to know if he had beaten my daughter. He said that he did, but never gave me reasons why,” Ntuli said. Ntuli said that they [the family] decided to lock his daughter in one of the bedrooms while they spoke to Sipho. “ I told Sipho that he needs to call his family members so that we can have a meeting and get to the bottom of their problems because it was getting out of hand. He insisted on seeing my daughter but we told him that is not going to happen. He then stood up and pulled his gun and started shouting that we are making him a fool. He ran straight to the passage, kicked the bedroom door where my daughter was sleeping and shot her. She only cried out once and died on the spot. Sipho then ran out of the house like a mad man and drove off.” Ntuli said that he could not believe what had happened to his daughter.“I thought I was stuck in a nightmare. I told myself that this could not be happening. Zoe [Dlamini] was the best child, so quiet and humble. She was not a violent person and everybody knew that. I am destroyed and devastated by her death. Life is so unfair. I always told everyone in the family that when I die they must take care of Zoe because she was such a good child.” Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Captain Kholeka Mhlongo said that Dlamini was shot twice in the head and once in the chest. “It is alleged that the couple had a domestic dispute

which led the deceased running to her family home. The husband followed her, went to the bedroom where she was hiding, kicked the door open dragging the deceased out of the room into the passage where he fired two shots to her head and chest and fled the scene with his vehicle,” Mhlongo said. Mhlongo said that members of the police were called and they traced the husband and his cellphone indicated that he was in the Richmond area. “Members of the police proceeded to the location to Richmond where a SAPS negotiator was called and tried to negotiate with Sipho to hand himself over to police. He took his life by firing a shot to his head and died instantly. An inquest docket has been opened in Richmond SAPS,” said Mhlongo. KwaZulu-Natal health minister Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo expressed shock and sadness at this incident. “This is too barbaric. It is cruel and insensitive. We mourn the loss of this professional. Working in the maternity unit requires a certain kind of human being with honourable qualities, such as understanding and a caring attitude, emotional and mental strength, patience and maturity. We are not surprised to hear from Sister Dlamini’s colleagues that she was a good

ing day, she went to Capitec and the matter was reported to the bank’s forensic section, which identified that fraud had been committed. A summary of her banking details shows all the transactions and numerous purchases of prepaid airtime and electricity vouchers. A beneficiary was created on her account and a total of five transactions were made, transferring money from her account to the beneficiary, until the limit on her cheque account was reached. In total, R11 300 was paid out from her account — excluding 20 amounts for prepaid airtime and seven amounts for prepaid electricity. “I have no idea how it happened. I have never received any funny e-mails or given out my passwords to anyone.” Nsuntsha said that Capitec indicated that the matter had been referred to their forensic division and that they had issued her with the name of the person who defrauded her. “I have no idea who the beneficiary is of the account into which the money was paid.” Nsuntsha said that the amount defrauded from her account had been a loan to finish building her

house. “The loan has gone up to R33 300 including interest. I have also been blacklisted because I refused to pay for money I didn’t use.” Responding to the alleged fraud, the Capitec communication department confirmed that Nsuntsha had been defrauded of R11 300. By the time the bank was made aware of incident, the majority of the funds had been used, a spokesperson said. The bank said they’d refunded her the sum of R2970,28 that was the amount that was “salvaged”. Capitec said it was unable to compensate her for the full amount because “the bank cannot be held liable as the safeguarding of bank cards and personalised PIN numbers remains the client’s responsibility”. Cell C also confirmed that the matter was reported to them.“Cell C will never contact its customers to request personal information, nor will we request them to ignore SMSs pertaining to sim swaps and porting requests,” it said in a response. Pietermaritzburg police station spokesperson Captain Khosi Khonjelwayo confirmed that a case of theft was being investigated after a charge was laid.

HOW DO FRAUSTERS GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT? ACCORDING to Capitec, there are various ways in which fraudsters can obtain the confidential cell phone login information required to access a bank client’s account using the mobile banking platform. A common theme in such cases is that the fraudster obtains the confidential cellphone banking access information directly from the banking client. Capitec says that this fraud involves fraudulent SMSs sent to bank clients in an effort to obtain the client’s confidential banking credentials from them. The SMSs used by the fraudsters often seem genuine, as the content of the SMS implies that it was sent from a legitimate financial institution. This SMS is usually followed up by a phone call from the fraudsters — usually from a private number. The purpose of the phone call is to trick the client into divulging their personal details such as the mobile banking PIN. The fraudsters often utilise confidential and private information about the client to convince them that the phone call is in fact legitimate. The fraudster can obtain this information by various legal or illegal methods from various sources, which may have nothing to do with the bank.

New man at Sanral the helm BYRONE ATHMAN >>Byrone.Athman@media24.com

T

HE South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) held a media briefing on Friday to introduce Sanral’s new Eastern Region manager, Dumisani Nkabinde. Taking over from former manager Logashri Sewnarain, Nkabinde said that he had big shoes to fill. “I have big boots to fill, however, I have worked with Logashri and many other experts within Sanral for some time and will accept my new responsibilities as a chal-

lenge,” said Nkabinde. Speaking at his first media briefing in Pietermaritzburg as regional manager, Nkibande emphasised the importance of the Freeway Management System (FMS). “FMS consists of technologies and strategies to monitor, control and manage freeway traffic more effectively,” said Nkibande. Nkibande explained that FMS used Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technologies such as CCTV and communications technology which benefitted the road user through improved congestion management, faster

detection, verifications and response to road incidents such as accidents and so on. “These benefits directly result in safer roads, savings in travel times and fuel costs, as well as contributing to a cleaner environment,” said Nkibande.

Nkibande said that they are currently in the process of expanding the FMS but that it was very costly. “To roll this out in every area is very costly but the FMS is a huge benefit to all motorists and pedestrians lives,” said Nkibande.

AA: Huge fuel price hike looms

>>lethiwe.makhanya@media24.com

ANOTHER big increase in the fuel price is likely at the end of the month if current trends are anything to go by, the Automobile Association (AA) said this week. Commenting on unaudited mid-month fuel price data released by the Central Energy Fund, the AA said last month’s fuel price account was closed earlier by the Department of Energy, resulting in the postponement of a substantial 50c per litre increase brought on by a weakening rand and rising international oil prices at the end of April. This means the country started the month with a substantial fuel deficit. The AA said fuel users are,at this stage, facing increases of 74c per litre for petrol, 81c per litre for diesel, and 78c for paraffin.— BE.

NTSHA yoMzansi Modelling Agency will host auditions for the Face of Msunduzi pageant on June 2 at the Bessie Head Library from 10 am to 4 pm and all models are invited to take part. The joining fee is R100 per model. This pageant is a first for Pietermaritzburg and it will comprise three categories. Little Miss and Mr Face of Msunduzi (ages 6 to 10 years old), Miss Teen (ages 13 to 16 years old) and Miss and Mr Face of Msunduzi (ages 16 to 22 years old). The top 12 that will be chosen as semi-finalists will battle for the crown on June 23 at the finals for this pageant. Thandokuhle Dlamini of Intsha yoMzansi Modelling Agency said they want to use modelling to bring about change in the society. “The winners for this pageant will be given tasks that they need to do in the community. That will teach them to be responsible and to behave well all the times as they will be representing our municipality everywhere they go. This title is not only about an individual but rather about our municipality and how we represent it. We are trying to teach our youngsters to be responsible in order for them to make it in life. They must know that their actions now will definitely affect them in future if they are not careful, especially those who want to make modelling their career,” he said. Dlamini said although this is a first for the pageant they plan on making it an annual event to give other youngsters an opportunity as well. “This will also help them with their portfolios when they want to enter big competitions. We want them to know how important it is to take part in pageants of this kind. Pageants like this help a lot in building confidence and improving yourself before going out into big competitions. “We want to see some of them in Miss South Africa

The auspicious month of Ramadan FASTING is not a mindless exercise of torturing the body by remaining hungry and thirsty. It is extremely meaningful and produces tremendous benefits for the fasting person. Increased Ibadah and devotion in Ramadan makes a Muslim feel closer to the creator, and generate appreciation for all his provisions. Food, water etc, as a boon and blessing from Him. By becoming more charitable in this month, feelings of generosity, soft heartedness and goodwill towards others are developed. The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) was more generous than the swift blowing winds in this month.

Through self-control and the discipline of fasting a Muslim develops tolerance, patience, contentment good manners, kind words and good habits. Because fasting is a collective activity, it creates a sense of belonging to the global family of believers and strengthens family ties and Islamic brotherhood on a local level as well. One of the outstanding benefits of fasting is that a Muslim experiences hunger and thirst, and thus identifies with the daily plight of the hungry and poor. In this way it generates a real and intense degree of sympathy and concern for the underprivileged who have so little to survive on.

This in turn makes Muslims reach out to the poor and the hungry. Ramadan is a very special month, but it is important for the benefits of this month to remain throughout the year. The spirit of piety and spiritual elevation experienced in Ramadan should stay on during our “normal” lives in the prevailing eleven months. And when the spiritual batteries begin to weaken, again comes the next Ramadan to give a full charge. Ramadan Kareem to one and all and a happy and joyous Eid Mubarak in advance. Violence not the way to push for change SUPRA Mahumapelo must fall on his assegai like his patron Jacob Zuma. It is inevitable that drivers of the “ANC renewal and new dawn” are ready to uproot the Zumafication of the ANC and state, even if it takes sleeping with an “enemy”. At the funeral of Nokukhanya Luthuli, wife of Chief Albert Luthuli, Nelson Mandela said: “In all political parties, there are good men and women”. We must never use vulgar politics, the destruction of property, the stoning of cars and looting of shops to get rid of disciples of Zuma but we must be revolutionary, as we were in the 1952 Defiance Campaign, and the Alexandra bus and potato boycotts in the fifties and eighties when we made apartheid “ungovernable”. The sentence given to Andile Lungisa (three years’ imprisonment by the

Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, for smashing a glass jug over the head of former member of the mayoral committee Rano Kayser during a Nelson Mandela Bay council meeting in October 2016) must be a lesson to violent protestors, soccer hooligans and the likes of Mduduzi Manana. A Groutville councillor who assaulted three women has not been investigated by the ANC and Commission for Gender Equality, but the ANCYL has not taken a hard stance similar to that taken against Oscar Pistorius, why? The sentence given to Lungisa is a reminder that even ANC deployees must behave in a non-violent way. SIYANDA MHLONGO KwaDukuza

EN laptops were donated to Nobanda Primary School in Sweetwaters last Thursday. These laptop were donated by elkT om after Nobanda Primary won the environmental competition which started in 2014. Nobanda was one of 40schools that entered the competition this year. School principal Thula Shabalala said that they have been working together with a community project called Sidlangoludala Community Project throughout the whole competition. “It was one of the requirements that schools work with a community project in teaching pupils about their school and the environment. Telkom then came to our school and interviewed our pupils to check how much they have learnt about their school and environment, and we won. “We did not believe it when we received the call that we have a been selected as a winner. We are very excited about these laptops and we are very grateful to Telkom. It has always been our dream to have a fully equipped computer lab. It was a vision that the previous principal had before she left the school. We even changed one of the classrooms into a computer lab but we had no computers, until 10 old computers were donated to us few years back. “These laptops are going to be a

Sanral freeway management MOTORISTS using KwaZulu-Natal freeways can make smart decisions to remain safe and avoid congestion, thanks to the implementation of the Freeway Management System (FMS). The system relays real-time information to alert motorists about incidents that are unsafe and most likely to cause build-up of traffic and subsequent delays. “A freeway can have six lanes but a single incident such as a breakdown or collision can have a major impact on the flow of traffic in both directions,” said Nkabinde Dumisani, regional manager (Eastern region) for the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL). Nkabinde said that the FMS consisted of technologies and strategies to monitor, control, and manage freeway traffic more effectively. SANRAL first embarked on the implementation of the FMS on strategic road sections in KZN during 2009 following the successful pilot FMS implementation on the Ben Schoeman Highway in Gauteng. The FMS system entails the active management of road networks using Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technologies. ITS involves the integrated deployment of communications technologies, traffic management software and control devices such as closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV), variable message signs (VMS) and traffic detectors to enable the active management and monitoring of freeways.“The many benefits to the road user on such a managed network include improved congestion management, faster detection, verification and response to road incidents such as accidents, road obstructions and road hazards and provision of real time traveller information to road users. These benefits directly result in safer roads, savings in travel times and fuel costs, as well as contributing to a cleaner environment,” said Nkabinde. The FMS in KZN currently covers around 120 km of the busiest sections of the N2 and N3 — from the Prospecton interchange on the N2, northward to the Watson Highway interchange, and on the N3 from the Candella Road bridge to the Market Road.Further expansions are in the process from Market Road to the Cedara interchange which includes the

high accident zone at Town Hill. These freeway sections are equipped with 147CCTV cameras, 26 VMS units and 57 radar vehicle detection units, all linked through a fibre optic communications backbone to a Traffic Management Centre (TMC) located at the SANRAL offices in Pietermaritzburg. Nkabinde said that incident detection and verification of times in KZN were impressive, with the average detection time down to 76 seconds. “This is in large part accomplished by an efficient TMC operations team and an effective performance monitoring regime. “The TMC works closely with and provides real time traffic and accident information to the various authorities involved in road incident management, such as police and emergency services. “To further improve the response to traffic incidents, officers from KZN provincial police are currently collocated at the TMC.” The SANRAL TMC operates on a 24/7 basis and has 23 staff involved in road network monitoring and incident management. It deals with an average of 800 traffic-related incidents every month. Stationary vehicles on the network (mostly heavy motor vehicles) account for just over half of all the traffic incidents detected. Approximately 17% of the total traffic-related incidents are vehicle accidents — which equates to an average of 140accidents per month. Most of these accidents (over 70%) involve light motor vehicles either in single or multiple vehicle collisions. The freeway sections around the EB Cloete systems interchange (Spaghetti Junction) and the Umgeni interchange on the N2 record the highest number of traffic incidents.A traveller information website www.i-traffic.co.za is also available to the public and provides useful information such as traffic conditions, road works, road conditions, congestion and traffic alert information. Users can also register on site and subscribe for free SMSes and e-mail traffic alerts. There is real-time viewing of the various camera feeds along the routes.Traffic information is also posted via social media via the @i_trafficKZN Twitter account, which currently has around 175 000 followers. — Supplied.

Mathematics or maths literacy W

HEN it comes to choosing your school subjects, the reality is that many pupils and perhaps parents do not understand the importance of the choice or the difference between mathematical literacy and mathematics. But pick the wrong one and the consequences for your child’s future can be disastrous. Matsoso Tsoaeli, project director of Transformation and Growth at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) said, “Studies show that it is better for you to get 40% in mathematics than it is to get 100% in mathematical literacy. This is because it is harder to get into university if you take mathematical literacy. You need an A or level 7 code to enter most universities with mathematical literacy and even then your career choices will be severely limited as many career paths do not allow maths literacy pupils to follow them.” Since many parents are unsure of what the difference actually is between these two subjects, here is a quick breakdown between

the two. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? Mathematics deals with theories and concepts and problems not necessarily encountered in everyday life (think trigonometry, algebra and basic calculus). In contrast to this, mathematical literacy deals with common practical problems like budgeting, interest calculations etc. To the practical parent or pupil looking at the above over-simplified definition, mathematical literacy may be a tempting choice. Surprisingly, however, the more “practical” subject is the least useful to a learner’s future. This is because, at its heart, mathematics teaches a level of problem-solving that pupils who do not take this subject are not exposed to. For this reason, and many others, once you choose to take maths literacy over mathematics, you cannot change subjects. This means that if your child is looking to pursue a university degree leading to careers in the fields of accounting, medicine, engineering, physics, chemistry, IT and more

(or even if they are not sure what they want to study yet), by not choosing mathematics, your child will be immediately excluded from such qualifications and the career opportunities they provide. Less obvious is the fact that learners with mathematics will also be more likely to be accepted to non-mathematics-related qualifications than their more “practical” mathematical-literacy counterparts. SO WHY THEN DO SOME SCHOOLS PUSH MATHS LITERACY ON THEIR PUPILS? Schools tend to focus on matric pass rates and “university passes”. Yet pupils and their parents should remember that a socalled “university pass” does not necessarily equate to earning a prized spot at a university. Competition is fierce. There are always more applicants than places. Some pupils may be convinced that it is their destiny to be a poet or movie star. They may argue that they do not need matric, let alone a pass that includes mathematics.

This is all very well but why limit your options? Life is long. Desires may change as you mature. At 15, it is difficult to commit to a single path. By choosing mathematics pupils are hedging their bets and increasing their life options. HOW TO GUIDE YOUR CHILD IN THE VERY IMPORTANT DECISION OF SUBJECT CHOICE • Take the time to ensure your child is aware of the importance of the decision and its future consequences. There are real consequences to this decision. • Listen to teachers’ recommendations but realise that the ultimate decision is yours and your child’s. If a teacher suggests maths literacy, question their logic and motives. See if they withstand your scrutiny. Most teachers have pupils ’ best interests at heart. Unfortunately, it is possible that a dishonourable few may give other agendas priority. They may suggest mathematical literacy due to a conflict of interest. Mathematical literacy is an easier subject. Conse-

quently, on average, the results of the learners who take mathematical literacy will be higher than if they had chosen mathematics. This makes the school and the teacher look better. • Explain to your child the benefits of taking the more challenging subject. This is particularly relevant to pupils that find mathematics difficult. Focus their attention on the obvious benefits of mathematics as a subject choice. Let them know that while mathematics is hard, it is doable. Tsoaeli said: “All it takes to succeed is patience. Studies show that what makes people good at mathematics is the amount of time and energy they take in practicing getting it right.” Making increasingly important decisions is part of growing up. Life is a game in which the stakes are real. Making our children aware of this is our responsibility as parents. The process of choosing matric subjects provides an opportunity for parental guidance where it matters most. Make it count.

Oh my God, I now believe in miracles and I am happy again with my family. I am Shenise from Raisethorpe Thanks to Mama Husna for bringing back my husband who had left me for 2 years. When I went to mama Husna she burnt some muthi for me, asked me for my husbands names which I gave her and when I went home after 6 hours my husband phoned me and told me he wants to come back and since then we are happy and my family is all together now. If you don’t believe in miracles, come see then by yourself with mama Husna because she can solve different problems like court cases, unfinished jobs, casino and many more.

JUMA, he gave her a magic ring to wear it on her right hand, when she reached the Casino she began playing the machine and later went to he table everyone looked at her as she was won R2.6m in the Casino. After we bought 2 brand new cars, a house and opened up business. She also told us to use the same ring in our business premises and now is booming. THANK YOU DR. JUMA WE REGARD YOU AS OUR FAMILY FATHER. NAIDOO (46YRS): I got fired at work last year in June, I tried everywhere to get a job but didn’t, later my husband went away with another woman because I wasn’t working. He used to drink alcohol and chase me out of the house with my kids. Can you imagine a Muslim man after 56yrs. But believe me I went to DR. JUMA he gave me KATIKO powder, within one day I got a call from Edgars store and Cell c Ballito, now am happy, working and my husband is back after 2days, he apologized bought me a brand new car and he stopped drinking. Natalians win with room to spare BYRONE ATHMAN >>Byrone.Athman@media24.com

YOUNG Natalians ended their sea-

son on a high, mauling Maritzburg Hotspurs 9-3 on Friday to take first place in the National Futsal League (NFL) at the end of a remarkable season that sees them at the top of the table by five points. In a total of 12 matches played throughout the season, coach Greg Nair’s team took 32 points out of a possible 36. With a second successive championship in three seasons, Natalians coach was full of praise for his side but also reflective on what could have been. “We are happy to finish five points clear but would have liked to have gone unbeaten. Unfortunately we had to settle for one loss and one draw which isn’t that bad,” said Nair.

Nair said that it was a very good season for them and that they worked hard and will continue to work hard ahead of an upcoming knockout competition they will compete at in July. “We will continue to train hard ahead of the knockout competition because we really want to win that,” said Nair. Renaldo Donnelly of Natalians finished the season as top goal scorer after netting four against Hotspurs to put his season tally at 17 goals to make it three seasons in a row that he had finished as top scorer. Shooting the breeze

Another new piece of good history was made by the local outfit Maritzburg United for qualifying for the first time to play in the final of any competition, this time the Nedbank Cup in the PSL history. To the well disciplined, level headed Maritzburg United technical bench under the head coach Fadlu Davids, his management, especially, the chairman Farouk Kadodia, from the bottom of my hearts I am saying well done, we are proud of you and you also made our city and province very proud. I remember the last time we celebrated the PSL title in KZN was back in 1996 when the then Durban side Manning Rangers under the head coach Gordon Igesund took all the Gauteng giants by surprise to win the league. I still remember clearly that night after Ranger’s last fixture at Chatsworth Stadium, me and my two friends and colleagues, Joe Gengan and Rashin Ballim actually went pass Westville Pavilion, on our way Maritzburg, just to have a small time and brief celebration.

We were also more excited because before we made it to Maritzburg, Rangers CEO Afzal Khan and our good friend contacted us to find out if we were safe. For Maritzburg United to finish in the top eight and make it to the final means a lot and will bring a lot of investments in sports to the “city of choice”. It will also upgrade the profile of our city, the club and players to the other level. I am personally expecting Pietermaritzburg United to dominate the official PSL’s annual prize giving ceremony in few days to come. Mark my words, a handful of names that will be honoured during this ceremony will come from the Team of Choice camp. Lastly, to United’s management, players, technical bench, especially, Davids and followers, let’s all go to Cape Town Stadium on Saturday with our shoulders high, play smart, stay level headed, motivated, bravely and bring the Nedbank Cup to Maritzburg. We trust you and we believe in you. All the best!

JERRY BARNES I must say last weekend and this coming Saturday is an exciting one for more than two reasons as far as local sports is concerned. Obviously we are all aware that the PSL season has been wrapped up and the good news is that all our KwaZulu- Natal clubs, Maritzburg United, AmaZulu and Lamontville Golden Arrows are all in the top eight bracket. This means for the very first time in PSL and KZN history, all our teams will be taking part in the popular MTN 8 at the beginning of the season. As I said, this alone is history for our province and also speaks volumes about our standard of professional soccer and club owners.
