fried corn, hot chips, exotic pineapples, strawberries and cream and Thai food. The entertainment programme aims to accommodate the community at large with an Eastern and Western song and dance extravaganza. The hugely anticipated car show will be spearheaded by Team Ford 032 this year. A novel new game,Feel the Car,where groups will have to cram as many people as they can into the car, will offer prizes for the largest group. A kiddies corner will be available for parents to take a break and their children will be looked after in a safe space by trained social workers. Society president and fair director Sandeep Oudhram thanked all those who are supporting the fair and encouraged more people to get on board and join the welfare group. Representing EPG, CEO Pregan Naicker said their partnership with the society and being among the people of KwaDukuza always leaves them with a warm feeling. “We are proud to be associated with such an organisation and the good work that they do.We look forward to a continued partnership, especially with the completion of the KwaDukuza Mall project.” Winter Fair 2018 will take place from June 28 until July 1, and it will be held at the Stanger High School grounds.

HE annual Child Welfare SA — KwaDukuza Winter Fair launch last Friday night revealed that plans for this year’s fair are being fine tuned and a bumper event is on the horizon for the KwaDukuza community. The event had a changed format this year when presentations of the various activities on the grounds were given by their organisers, the society’s social workers. The annual fund-raising effort gained pledges on the night totalling R202 000,including the flagship pledge of R75 000 which this year once again came from the Edison Property Group. Other notable pledges came from community stalwart S.V.Naicker and Industrial Builders, with R25 000 each. Addressing the guests, social work manager Karnegie Govender said the fair will offer an array of exciting attractions this year. “We have 20 plus rides from Chetty’s Fun Fair with a new addition family ride called the Jump ’n Smile. We also have a photo booth on the ground. This will be our 26th Winter Fair and we have been working tirelessly to make it bigger and better than ever.” For the foodies,17 food stalls will be open at the ground, ranging from the traditional hotdogs to

Pupils used placards to get their messages across.

A LOCAL organisation based in Ward 25, Doornkop, together with Zizamele Pre-School pupils, held a child protection march on May 25 as part of the national Child Protection Month.

The march started in the Mdlebeni area and the children proceeded to the Newark Police Station where a memorandum was handed to the station commander. - Supplied.
