Our expert and unique approach to how we teach complements and elevates what we teach. Learner attributes, like problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity are woven into the fabric of the learning experience, helping children to be the best version of themselves. Combining expert teaching with personal development, we nurture not only capable learners but also well-rounded, thoughtful individuals who are ready to thrive.
It is our aim for all pupils to be fully prepared for the next stage of their education and the progression towards senior school is managed with care and intention. At the heart of this is our commitment to ambitious levels of achievement across a broad and exciting curriculum for the entirety of the junior school years.
There is no single entrance exam for junior school children to sit in order to gain access to the senior school - we are one school. Our rigorous internal assessment schedule and comprehensive process of continuous assessment, where we evaluate academic potential and achievement and set targets for future learning, is used alongside other important measures such as character, work ethic, and extra curricular involvement, to provide a secure base from which we can recommend our children to senior school.
Central to school life from Reception onwards is our broad and exciting range of co-curricular activities. A wide variety of before, during, and after-school clubs, from sport to science club, ballet to bushcraft, fencing to forest school, encourage pupils to explore new interests or develop existing passions. Led by our own experienced staff and complemented with external specialist coaches, all clubs are designed to be fun, enriching, and confidence building.
Beyond the classroom, pupils enjoy trips and experiences each year, including local outings, visiting experts, theatre visits, and residential trips from Year 3 upwards.
“THE SCHOOL’S FOCUS ON INCLUSION AND PUPILS’ WIDER DEVELOPMENT MEANS THAT PUPILS OF DIFFERENT AGES AND ABILITIES GAIN CONFIDENCE AS THEY ACHIEVE IN A WIDE RANGE OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.”
ISI Report, 2024
Our co-curricular programmes are built around six key categories to support each child holistically. Pupils actively help shape the clubs offered, ensuring their interests and needs are always heard. These opportunities enrich learning and personal growth.
As part of our daily school life, we create opportunities for older pupils to lead and mentor younger children through activities like science club, forest school and reading. These experiences build confidence in older pupils and spark curiosity in younger ones, strengthening cross-age bonds and our through school community.
Our pupils benefit greatly from our beautiful 100-acre campus, rich in natural spaces and home to a variety of wildlife. Such abundant access to the outdoors supports physical and mental wellbeing, encourages curiosity, and complements academic, co-curricular, and pastoral development.
Time spent in nature helps pupils build important life skills such as collaboration, resilience, independence, and problem-solving. From forest school to outdoor learning and active play, our junior school pupils grow in confidence in a safe, supportive setting.

Supporting every child’s journey
We offer a nurturing, flexible approach that supports each child from Pre-nursery to Year 6. We work in partnership with parents and external professionals to provide tailored support where needed. This evolves as children grow, starting with bespoke activities and small group sessions, progressing to specialist teaching as our pupils move up through the junior school, and beyond.
We always ensure seamless and well-supported transitions are thoughtfully woven throughout every child’s journey, reflecting the excellence of our pastoral care. We know each pupil personally and provide tailored guidance from Pre-nursery through to senior school and sixth form.
In Fan Court (Pre-nursery to Year 2), children establish strong foundations in a nurturing, curiosity-driven environment, with familiar routines and close relationships easing their progression from EYFS from Pre-nursery, to Key Stage 1 from Year 1.
The transition to Stable Court (Year 3–6) is carefully orchestrated through visits, buddy systems, and introductions to new staff and spaces, fostering confidence and continuity.
As children prepare for senior school, creative engagement with staff and peers, via taster sessions and summer communications, ensures they feel supported, valued, and ready for their next step.
Our through-school model creates a connected, caring community where every pupil is known, understood, and empowered to flourish at every stage.
“IN THE EARLY YEARS, LEADERS ENSURE THAT STAFF WORK CLOSELY WITH PARENTS TO SUPPORT EACH CHILD’S LEARNING AND PROGRESS.”
ISI Report, 2024
Open, ongoing communication with families is highly valued as a vital part of each child’s success. Teachers and senior staff work closely with parents to support academic and personal development, with regular updates through reports, grade cards, learning portfolios and parent meetings. We actively encourage parents to speak with teachers, who are available in person at the start and end of each day. Our cohesive communications programme, including a secure parent portal, weekly newsletter and regular email updates, ensures parents feel informed, involved and confident in their child’s journey.
For our younger pupils, we use Tapestry to keep parents connected to their child’s learning journey. With photos and teacher insights, it offers a unique window into their daily experiences and development.
