ART, PHOTOGRAPHY AND TEXTILES EXHIBITION | YEAR 11-13

The Senior School art, photography and textiles departments proudly celebrated the exceptional work of our talented GCSE and A level students this year with a fantastic exhibition in the Great Room and Sir Sydney Camm science and technology foyer during gratitude festival. A number of the artworks on display were created under lockdown conditions and the quality, variety and maturity of the pieces have shone through with some really wonderful and inspirational outcomes. It was fantastic to be able to share the exhibition with the parents of the artists and photographers but we hope that next year we will have the opportunity to open up the exhibition to the wider school community.

POETRY AND MONOLOGUE PERFORMANCES | YEAR 7, 8, 11 & SIXTH FORM

Year 7 and 8 pupils read and studied a variety of poetry from pre-19th and 20th century during English lessons in the summer term. Classes selected a few of their favourites to perform on stage to fellow pupils during the school's gratitude festival using voice and movement to bring the poems to life. GCSE and A level drama students also took to the gratitude festival stage to perform a series of monologues to pupil audiences. It proved to be an excellent way to showcase our English and drama departments at Claremont.

PERCUSSION TEA | ALL YEARS

It was wonderful to hear once again the sounds of live music echoing through the mansion after such a long period without our termly instrumental teas at Claremont Fan Court School. The music department kicked things off again with a percussion tea involving a vibrant drumming session. Despite having no external audience, the performances were a fantastic opportunity for our talented percussion students to showcase a chosen piece of music at all levels and abilities. We look forward to a fuller musical tea programme next academic year.

CHRISTMAS PANTO | SIXTH FORM

Year 6 pupils were treated to a very special sixth form pantomime performance of Peter Pan to celebrate the last week of the autumn term. As well as taking on acting roles, the cast worked hard to create and manage props, scenery, costumes and lighting to bring the story to life.

The performance was recorded with viewings available for a voluntary contribution to this years’ sixth form charities: Princess Alice Hospice and Mind. Our thanks to all those who donated to help the school raise £1,200 for these brilliant causes.
