If you have dyslexia, you might have trouble reading even simple words you’ve seen many times. You probably will read slowly and feel that you have to work extra hard when reading.

You might mix up the letters in a word — for example, reading the word “now” as “won” or “left” as “felt.” Words may also blend together and spaces are lost.

You might have trouble remembering what you’ve read. You may remember more easily when the same information is read to you or you hear it. Word problems in math may be especially hard, even if you’ve mastered the basics of arithmetic. If you’re doing a presentation in front of the class, you might have trouble finding the right words or names for various objects. Spelling and writing usually are very hard for people with dyslexia.

Visual Stress What is visual stress?

Visual Stress is a processing condition that causes reading difficulties and visual problems that expose patterns in text if shown paragraphs of text.

Visual stress is something that can’t be helped by a proscription, there is no effective or long-term way to fix visual stress. People with and without dyslexia can have this issue but its more common in people with dyslexia. The way most deal with visual stress is by using a coloured overlays or getting tinted glasses. Some Dyslexics prefer to get whatever text they are using printed onto coloured paper. Research shows that this method does not always work on people without dyslexia. Some people can read 25% faster with the coloured overlay or glasses.

Road Sings How do road sings effect people with Dyslexia?

Dyslexia effects a person’s processing so sometimes when you are told to go left or right it can take you a second to do. Same with road sing having to read them and then prosses the information in a small amount of time can be very hard.

Reading and understanding road sings are what most dyslexic people struggle with. Like one I did not understand when I was younger was Give Way, it just never made since to me till I ask. No having as much time to process what you just read before you must enter the roundabout or needing to be in a certain lanes. Dylexia can also have an effect on reading number.
