Design Students
Designing a residential University hub will be tailored for art & design students. The accommodation I will be designing is not confined to one particular university, but for all students studying some form of art and design course across Birmingham. These will include a range of students from multiple disciplines. For example:

• Interior Designers • Architects • Jewellery designers • Fine art • Graphic designers etc. With University accommodations, it is vital there are members of staff on site, in case of any emergencies or general questions and queries. There will be multiple staff members occupying the site. For example:
• Receptionists - they will be people in charge of welcoming arrivals and answering any questions and queries students may have. Additionally, they will also be in charge of admin, ensuring payments, room viewings etc., are all handled.
• Cleaners, these will be staff members who come once a week to clean communal spaces, ensuring they are all sanitised. The local community will be invited to take part and join activities, workshops and exhibitions that students may hold. I wanted the local community to feel welcomed and part of something, especially now with a pandemic, people have felt more isolated. Additionally, this is a great way for potential prospects who may be looking at studying an art and design course. The local community can include:
• Adults & children wanting to join in activities, workshops and exhibitions. • Potential students wanting to study an art and design course. • People from industry who may be wanting to hire potential designers.

Identifying the user at the beginning of the design process will allows designers to customise the spacial configuration and narrative depending on the user type and needs.
