Outstanding Leaders Under 40 CPT Brandon McFadden
Captain (CPT) Brandon McFadden was born on December 18, 1990, and hails from Kingstree, S.C. He is the son of Sarah McFadden and the late Willie McFadden. He joined the South Carolina National Guard during his junior year of high school, and he attended basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. CPT McFadden graduated from Kingstree Senior High School in 2009 and attended Advanced Individual Training that summer. Immediately following graduation from military training, CPT McFadden moved into the High-Rise Residence Hall, where he started his matriculation at Claflin University.
CPT McFadden graduated from Claflin University in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in management. He was also commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army through the SCSU/CU/VU ROTC Program.
After training at Fort Moore, Ga., CPT McFadden was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, from 2014 to 2017, where he served as a tank platoon leader and Battalion S-1 OIC. CPT McFadden was promoted to captain in 2017 and transitioned to an adjutant general officer. After graduating from Captain's Career Course in 2017, he was stationed at Fort Johnson, La., from 2018 to 2020, serving as a Battalion S-1 OIC. During this tenure, he completed his master's in HR Administration from Central Michigan University.
From 2020 to 2023, CPT McFadden served as the G-1 EPS OIC and then Aide to the USARCENT Chief of Staff at Shaw A FB, SC. Currently, he is a student in the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. CPT McFadden was also selected for the rank of major and has an effective promotion date of January 2024. CPT McFadden is a proud dad to his two-year-old daughter Mecca.
