Outstanding Leaders Under 40 JaQuez Gilliard

Born and raised in Eutawville, S.C., JaQuez Gilliard always had a heart for helping others. He is the son of Keith and Rosalyn Gilliard, the middle child of three children: one older brother (Keith), a younger sister (Tamara), and a bonus sister (Terrionna). JaQuez graduated from Orangeburg Consolidated School District Three in 2012, Claflin University in 2016, and Syracuse University in 2022. In 2017, JaQuez married his high school sweetheart, Santrelle Washington.

Gilliard served as a math teacher for eight years; two at Dutchman Creek Middle in Rock Hill, SC, four at Frazer K8 in Syracuse, NY, and two at PB Ritch Middle in Hiram, GA. In Syracuse, Gilliard served as the coordinator for the

Building Men Program at Frazer K8 School, the 8th Grade Demonstration Teacher, and Lead Teacher for the Syracuse City School District. In his leadership role, Gilliard planned and recorded video lessons and conducted weekly professional development to assist every 8thgrade math teacher in the district. This led him to start his YouTube Channel “Basic Math Skills with Mister G!”

Recently, Gilliard and Santrelle relocated to Hiram, Ga., where he now teaches 7th Grade Mathematics and runs his business, Dream2Go Travel Agency LLC.
