Bernita C. Cooper

Bernita C. Cooper’s interest in storytelling, a love for reading, and growing up in the social media age led her to pursue a career in public relations and social media.

After graduating from Claflin University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a master’s degree from George Washington University, the Hemingway, S.C. native spearheaded social media campaigns and initiatives at Historically Black Colleges/ Universities (HBCUs) in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Cooper also served as an adjunct Public Relations professor, hoping to inspire the next generation of communicators.

Looking to explore paths outside of higher education, Cooper works at the ColorComm Corporation Headquarters in New York City as the

Senior Communications Manager. ColorComm, Inc. is the nation’s leading women’s platform addressing diversity & inclusion across the communications, marketing, advertising, and media industries.

In addition to her full-time career, Cooper owns and operates Bernita Cooper Communications, a full-service social media and public relations company she founded as a sophomore at Claflin.

Cooper is a legacy member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a host team member for Dîner en Blanc Columbia, and a founding member of the EmpowerHer Orangeburg Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA).
