Current TTPs Direct Fire: • Daily occurrences throughout AO. • All Districts • Times primarily restricted to between 0800-1000, 1200-1400, and 1700-2000. Indirect Fire: • Occurrences typically Thursday through Monday. • Districts Maywand, Urzgan, Kandahar, and Zabul. • No consistency in timing. Improvised Explosive Devices: • Daily occurrences throughout AO. • All Districts • Times primarily restricted to between 0800-1400 and 1700-1900 Complex Attacks: • Occur primarily on Sundays. • Districts Zabul and Kandahar • Timing is primarily restricted between 0700-1000.

Overall Assessment • The overall security of Kandahar Province is rated a 3, although in the last 8 weeks there has been an increase in kinetic activity. • I expect and initial decrease in activity through Rhamadan with a spike in attacks centered around mid month. Expect to see a complex attack mid month or during the last week of Aug. • The most dangerous district in the province is Zharah, followed by Panjwa i and Kandahar. • HWY 1 between Shah Joy and Qalat is where we have seen the most lethal INS activity and along RTE Hyena in Panjwa’i. • are the highest threat level days, with Sunday being the lowest threat level day. • Activity starts at 0800 in the morning and tapers off at 1900, with a lunch time lull between 1100 and 1400. • UPCOMING HOLIDAYS • 19 August: Independence Day (from Britain) • 30 or 31 August: Pashtunistan Day
