TheBeacon Museumin Whitehaven onthe LakeDistrict’swest coastisanawardwinningmuseum thathousesa variedcollection representing the historyofthe Copelandarea.
Its‘BeaconSparks’project bringsthemuseumtolife throughaseriesofdigital interactives,includingvirtual realityexperiences,digital walkingtrailsandinteractive touchscreens.Theproject createsnewwaysforlocal

Thisincludedearlyreflection workshops,in-festival observationandimpact journalism,ethnography andin-festivaldata collection(feedbackfrom venuemanagers,anopen whatsappgroupfor creativesandfestival participantstosharekey moments),andanalysisof
audienceparticipationand socialvalue.Wecreateda micro-commissionandpaid workopportunityfor a youngjournalismgraduate toattendthefestival, supportingherinthe principlesof solutions/impactjournalism, anddocumentingtwohigh profileevents.
