Contracts The CRL project has been divided into a number of delivery contracts. Some have been completed, others are underway, and some are planned.

Construction of CRL tunnels from Britomart under Lower Queen Street is finished and refurbishment of the CPO heritage building that is part of the station will be completed in April 2021. Lower Queen Street has been converted into a people-friendly square known as Te Komititanga, and the Contract 1 portion of streetscape enhancement on Tyler and Galway streets will be completed in April 2021.
Contract 2 - the lower end of Albert Street between Customs and Wyndham streets

Contract 2 was completed in October 2020. The contract included 350 metres of trenching and tunnelling from Commercial Bay at Customs Street to Wyndham Street, relocating a stormwater main, strengthening the Ōrākei Main Sewer and improvements at street level that included new street furniture and lighting, trees and bus bays.

The Link Alliance will excavate tunnels on Albert Street from just south of Wyndham Street to the Western Line at Mt Eden, build two underground stations (Aotea and Karangahape) and redevelop Mt Eden Station (original Contract 3 works). Connection of tunnels to the existing live rail corridor environment and line-wide systems, rail systems integration and testing and commissioning from Britomart Station to Mt Eden Station will also be delivered by the Link Alliance (original Contract 5 and Contract 7 works, now incorporated into Contract 3).
• Aotea - Temporary removal of Albert Street's historic bluestone wall is underway, relocating underground utilities continues, construction of D or diaphragm walls for the station continues, installing bored piles for station and tunnels in Albert Street is underway.
