No Smoking and Vaping in Weston’s Parks

Effective November 18, 2024, smoking and vaping are prohibited in all City of Weston’s parks by City Code. The ban helps to foster a healthier environment for residents and visitors.

Communication Boards

Pictures and symbols are an effective way for non-verbal, speech-challenged, early-learning individuals, and those who speak a different language to communicate with friends and caregivers. Communication boards with pictures and symbols representing nouns/pronouns, verbs, feelings, activities, and playground events, letters and numbers have been placed at the entrance to the playgrounds in the following City parks: Bonaventure Park, Country Isles Park, Emerald Estates Park, Gator Run Park, Indian Trace Park, Peace Mound Park and Tequesta Trace Park. Some of the boards offer English and Spanish titles, which offers some language learning in active play.

Fixit Bike Repair Stations

The Fixit stations have all of the tools needed to perform basic bike repairs, from changing a flat tire to adjusting brakes and derailleurs. Stations are located in the following parks: Bonaventure, Emerald Estates, Gator Run, Indian Trace, Library Park, Peace Mound and Weston Regional.

EV Charging Stations

The City has partnered with FPL to provide electric vehicle (EV) chargers as part of the FPL Evolution program, which provides level 2 charging (slow chargers) at strategic locations to encourage workplace charging accessibility as an effective way to promote the adoption of electrical vehicles. The stations are operated by FPL and are subject to availability.

The stations are located at: Vista Park (2 charging stations - 4 vehicles), Weston City Hall (1 charging station – 2 vehicles) and Weston Regional Park (3 charging stations - 6 vehicles).

Severe Weather Warning System

Weston’s largest athletic parks – Weston Regional, Tequesta Trace and Vista Park – are equipped with lightning detection meters to advise park visitors when lightning threatens the area. A loud siren will alert park visitors to seek shelter immediately. An “all clear” signal (three consecutive alarms) will sound when conditions improve and activities are clear to resume. Visit WestonFL.org/FieldClosures to find out if weather is impacting your game or practice.

P ARKS I N P ROGRESS

18800 Vista Park Boulevard

Vista Park is a 30-acre athletic complex that was built in 2003 to enable Weston to keep pace with an ever-growing demand for athletic fields. The park is one of three athletic complexes in Weston that is home to sports league play and is currently the homefield for Weston Explosion softball, Weston FC soccer and host to a variety of tournaments throughout the year.

Located adjacent to Cypress Bay High School, the park has four softball fields and four multi-purpose athletic fields, a shaded playground and shelters. It also has 6 acres of undeveloped open park space which will soon evolve into more recreation space, as determined by the 2022 Parks Master Plan.

Vista Park Improvements

The shade structures for the spectator bleachers on the multipurpose fields and softball fields are currently being refurbished. This includes maintenance and painting of the structures and installation of new blue shade structures. Also, the natural grass soccer fields on fields 1 and 4 will be converted to artificial turf. That project is scheduled to begin in February.

The pavilions next to the soccer and softball fields are being replaced with structures that are similar to those that were recently installed at Regional Park. The shade structure next to the playground will not be replaced, as that area will become additional parking once Vista Park Phase II is completed.

Vista Park Phase II

Currently in the design phase, is a new recreation center with a gymnasium and indoor track on the undeveloped portion of the park. Possible amenities include multipurpose courts, a playground, splashpad, conversion of soccer fields 2 and 3 to artificial turf and a secondary access road. Stay tuned to our website for additional information on this and other projects happening in 2025.
