Welcome to the Salisbury Sport newsletter, providing you with an update on sport and recreation activities within the City of Salisbury. The October School Holidays are just around the corner and we encourage you to be active in your local community, meet new people and have lots of fun.

Netball Fours Netball Fours is an innovative new game designed by the City of Salisbury. Played in the goal third of a netball court with only four players on each team, it is a fast moving version of netball with modified rules.

Anyone is welcome to come out and join in the fun on Friday 9 October at Para Hills West Wanderers Netball Club. Adelaide Thunderbird Kate Shimmin will be there to MC the event, a DJ , barbeque and canteen facilities and plenty of prizes and giveaways!

Age Groups Girls 10 & Under, 13 & Under, 15 & Under and 16+ Boys 10 & Under, 13 & Under, 15 & Under and 16+ Mixed 35+ $25 per team - maximum of 7 players in a team. From 6pm to 9.30pm.

Growing for Gold The Growing for Gold program encourages young people aged three to 16 to participate in sporting and recreational activities within their local community. The program is run during the September/October school holidays. Throughout the program, local sport and recreation providers are invited to open their doors to promote their club activities FREE of charge to participants.

With over 20 sports to choose from, there is an activity for everyone, and if you like the sport so much and join that club, we will give you a $30 voucher to spend at Sportspower Parabanks.

Rising Stars Netball Clinic Adelaide Thunderbird Kate Shimmin is looking for Salisbury’s rising stars of netball. If you are nine or 10 years of age (as of 1 July 2015) come along and participate in a netball clinic and get a taste of what it’s like to be in the STAA - Salisbury Talented Athletics Academy - Netball Player Development Program.

Local Club News Northern Districts Baseball Club The Northern Districts Baseball Club is now recruiting for the upcoming Summer Season. The club is family orientated with a strong junior program and also competes at the senior level in the SA Baseball League.

Players have the opportunity of mixing with and learning from Canadian and American Pro-Baseballers. The club is currently seeking players from U11 to U19 and Seniors from Division 1 through to 8.

The club also caters for young children aged 5-9 years with their Aussie T-Ball and T-Ball program played on Friday nights during Term 4 and 1.

Why not try Lawn Bowls. Come and join the Para Hills Bowling Club and play Pennant Bowls on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays from October 2015 to March 2016.

Worried about the cost of starting a new sport or at a different club? No need to as your uniform is included in the first year’s fees (subject to conditions). Our sport is ‘open gender’ and everyone is welcomed to join.

Swimming The Salisbury Recreation Precinct offers a large range of swimming lessons to suit all levels and abilities for children and adults.

Boccia Kindigym Kindigym is a movement based program that encourages children aged one to five years to grow and develop through play in a fun, colourful and stimulating environment with the encouragement and supervision of their parent/carer.

Boccia is a skillful, exciting an strategic sport that was developed to cater for people with varying levels of physical impairment.

It provides pathways to the Paralympics and is a truly inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by all.

Basketball This is a fantastic session for those who want to get even more out of life by enjoying one of Australia’s favourite past-times, basketball! The North Eastern Inclusive Basketball program is a non-competitive basketball program based on maximum participation for people with a disability.

The games are played with modified rules so everyone is welcome to participate. Opportunities available for both female and males of all ages and abilities.
