Welcome to the Salisbury Sport newsletter, providing you with an update on sport and recreation activities within the City of Salisbury. The July School Holidays are just around the corner and we encourage you to get out and about and enjoy the many ways you can be active in your local community, meet new people and have lots of fun.

Basketball

STAA Programs STAA Netball Player Development Program The Salisbury Talented Athletes Academy (STAA) is a sports performance program aimed at supporting talented young athletes in Salisbury.

The Netball Player Development Program will provide the opportunity for aspiring young netballers in Salisbury to develop their game and receive professional coaching from former Adelaide Thunderbirds and High Performance Coach Marg Angove and current Adelaide Thunderbirds player and Netball Ambassador for Salisbury Kate Shimmin during terms 3 and 4, 2014.

School Holidays - Basketball Battle Grounds A fun and exciting new school holiday basketball ground that will put your basketball skills to the test, hosted by former basketball player and Streetball legend Kenneth Brunner, for players aged eight to 14 years (all abilities welcome).

Junior Basketball Competition Are you a boy or a girl wanting to play basketball or looking to take your game to the next level? Our recreation centres welcome the opportunity to play you in a team. Aussie Hoops Aussie Hoops is an introductory program coordinated by Basketball SA Development Officers giving children, aged five to 12 a fun taste of what basketball is all about. Your child will have the opportunity to learn some skills of the game in a fun, non-competitive environment.

Aussie Hoops Allstars Aussie Hoops Allstars will help you advance your skills, build your knowledge of the game and learn how much fun it is to be part of a team. Whether you’re in a team, or still learning the game, this program is designed for budding young basketballers aged 12 years and under. Delivered by accredited Basketball SA coaches, this program will give you the skills you need to go on and play junior basketball.

Pink Ball: All Girls Basketball Pink Ball is a Basketball SA’s brand new all girls basketball program which has been specially designed to deliver basketball to girls on their own terms in an exciting program which goes beyond the court and into the heart.

Pink Ball focuses on fostering leadership and a positive peer environment through a program which rewards personal development and values quality relationships. During their time in Pink Ball, the girls will win cool prizes and rewards by earning stamps in their Pink Passport.

We all know girls just want to have fun, so the Pink Ball court is a little different than your normal training session.

Pink Ball looks and feels like a party, there is music, we dress up (all in pink of course), we use pink balls, we giggle, we dance, we play and we make a lot of new friends.

Netball 3 Cheers The Adelaide Thunderbirds are inviting budding young netballers in Salisbury to participate in the Beach Energy 3 Cheers Holiday Program. The program is a Netball SA Community Program which is a coeducational, activity based learning program run by the Adelaide Thunderbird athletes, including our very own Netball Ambassador Kate Shimmin.

The program is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the community and has been developed to promote netball, healthy eating, healthy bodies and a healthy mind.

Sport for People with Disability Goalball Goalball is a fast paced and skillful game designed for blind and vision impaired athletes. The game caters for the social participant right through to the Paralympics.

Boccia Boccia is a skillful, exciting an strategic sport that was developed to cater for people with varying levels of physical impairment. It provides pathways to the Paralympics.

Basketball This is a fantastic session for those who want to get even more out of life by enjoying one of Australia’s favourite past-times, Basketball! The North Eastern Inclusive Basketball program is a non-competitive basketball program based on maximum participation for people with a disability.

The games are played with modified rules so everyone is welcome to participate. Opportunities available for both female and males of all ages and abilities.

Netball - Net Set Go! ANZ NetSetGo inclusion incorporates skill activities, minor games and modified matches in a fun and safe environment for people with a disability. The weekly program will provide a quality experience for all participants.
