In July of 2021, Monroe City Council approved funding in the amount of $3.5 million dollars to renovate the Enquirer Journal building in to a new and improved active living facility for senior adults. Crews have worked tirelessly to maintain an aggressive schedule of completion and we are so excited for this new facility to open. The 21,440 square foot facility should be available early in 2023 and includes state of the art audio/visual equipment, a small cardio room, a computer lab, several multi purpose activity and class rooms, a woodworking area, a ceramics and pottery area, a large group fitness room, a cozy lobby for socialization and coffee, and a large rentable event space for the community. Programs include active opportuinities, as well as, resourcebased opportunities that can assist users with daily tasks, as well as, the ability to learn something new! The facility is located at 500 West
Jefferson Street in Downtown Monroe.
