AGES: 12 – 18 Kids will be responsible for putting together a menu and preparing a meal of their choice for their peers. This program will teach kid’s ways to budget their money, as well as, how to cook a healthy meal.

DISCOVER YOUR ART

AGES: 12 – 18 Let your imagination run wild. Our staff will provide opportunities for kids to tap into their creativity through art and self expression.

BREAKING THE ICE

DATES: Thursdays in December TIME: 4:00 – 5:00pm

AGES: 12 – 18 Teens will learn the path to resolving conflict and will be given the tools to help with the problem solving process. Participants will be exposed to several fun problems and will work together to find a solution to these obstacles as a group. This program is designed to teach teens how to work as a team and how to find creative ways to solve problems.

COLLEGE COLOR DAYS

DATE: Wednesdays in October TIME: 5:00 – 6:00 pm

AGES: 12 – 18 Each week in October, staff will assist you with the college application process. Learn how to write college applications, college essays and how to research colleges and scholarships. Wear your favorite college team apparel!

HANGOUT HARVEST

DATE: Wednesdays in November TIME: 4:00 – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 October is harvesting season and is the perfect time to learn tasty and easy recipes for the upcoming Holiday season. We will visit the community teaching garden and use home grown vegetables to make several delicious meals.

GAMES GALORE!

DATES: Fridays in November TIME: 4:00 – 5:00pm

AGES: 12 – 18 There is nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. Winchester Center will provide a friendly atmosphere to compete in every game you could think of, whether it be a board game or a more active game. Have you created a cool game? If so, bring the idea to us and we will help you bring it to life!

AGES: 12 – 18 If you’re unsure as to what type of career you’d be interested in, let us help you out! We will focus on several different occupations throughout the month of November. See if any fit your interests and you can make your hobby your career!

ACTS OF GIVING

AGES: 12 – 18 Join us in the month of December as we help you give back to the community. Participants will be able to assist with and participate in the creation of projects that will make a positive impact on the community.

DATES: Friday, 11/4 TIME: 4:00 – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 Monroe Parks and Recreation has partnered with the Delta Sigma Theta Alumnus Sorority to provide opportunities for participants to plan for their future in a fun and exciting environment. Instructors will mentor participants in study skills, life skills and how to successfully create goals and visions for themselves.

NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

AGES: 12 – 15 During the month of October, participants will become immersed in Hispanic culture. Each week participants will discover new and fascinating aspects of Hispanic culture.

AGES: 12 – 15 During the month of November, participants will dive into the beauty of Native American culture. Each week, participants will engage in fun, hands-on activities focused on the lives and culture of the Native Americans.

AGES: 12 – 15 Make your own pieces of unique art. The world is your canvas, including your t-shirts. Join J. Ray Shute as we use everyday items to create beautiful pieces of art.
