Jayden is stuck in detention with a book about Congressman John Lewis, but he thinks that history has nothing to teach him. Together we go on a musical journey through the decades that shows how the heroes in the Civil Rights movement inspired young John Lewis to protest injustice and get into ‘good trouble.’ As a boy, John dreams of being a preacher who can help others. While he doesn’t have a congregation yet, he does have a loyal group of singing chickens that listen to him as he finds his voice. On a harrowing road trip through the South, John’s eyes and mind are opened to the injustices of segregation and racism, inspiring him to take action. As John meets Rosa Parks and Dr. King and ultimately becomes a leader and American hero himself, Jayden learns how he too can take a stand.

“The Driven Woman”
The Driven Woman” is an evocative group art exhibition that explores the complexities of ambition, sacrifice, and resilience in the lives of women. It brings together a diverse array of perspectives, highlighting the intricate balance women navigate as they pursue their dreams while often shouldering the weight of societal expectations and familial responsibilities.
Through various media, the participating artists delve into themes such as the sacrifices women make to achieve their goals, the often-unacknowledged labor of motherhood, and the juggling of multifaceted
roles as wives, mothers, and professionals. Each artwork invites viewers to reflect on the emotional and psychological toll that these sacrifices can exact, while simultaneously celebrating the strength and tenacity that define the driven woman.
“The Driven Woman” is not merely a celebration of achievement but an acknowledgment of the sacrifices that often remain unseen. It aims to foster a dialogue about the realities faced by women who strive to break barriers while fulfilling their roles within their families and communities and honors the driven women whose stories and struggles resonate across generations and cultures.
The Spirit of This Place is a gorgeous photography exhibition that captures the soul of nature as seen through the eyes of internationally collected, award-winning conservation photographer Phoenix. Her images reflect her devotion to protecting the natural environment and a reverence for wild places.
As the cultural facility of a diverse community, the Miramar Cultural Center’s programming is inclusive of art exhibits that seek to provide insight, provoke, educate and entertain guests. From MCC’s Expression Garden, Vanishing View, Windows To Our World murals and ArtScape, MCC’s public art is intentional and interactive. These pieces have allowed nationally acclaimed and local public artists to lend their talents to activating the garden and the green space that envelopes the Town Center property.
Windows To Our World murals utilize the building’s architectural cathedral indentations shaped like windows to open guests to several themes - Hispanic Heritage, Black History, The Environment and Caribbean Heritage. These themes continue work designed for programming of the facility’s Ansin
Family Art Gallery. The 202425 murals also celebrate MCC’s Sweet 16th year of bringing creativity and diversity to Miramar. MCC opened in 2008 and if you search each mural carefully, you will see the hidden numbers 2 , 0, 0 and 8. Can you find them all?
THE 2024-2025 MURALS WERE CREATED BY TIFF URQUHART, A CONTEMPORARY ARTIST WHO CONCENTRATES ON ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVISM.

Designed to invigorate MCC’s campus as a destination where art has added itself to community expression; they reflect how we can imagine the world. It’s vibrancy and curbside appeal offers a transformative identifier for the facility. It remains to be freely accessible and adds to the quality of life benefit that CULTURE brings when living, working and visiting the City of Miramar.
