Good evening and welcome to Vibrations, featuring the incredible artistry of the Campion Dance Society at the Miramar Cultural Center.
It fills me with pride to see our city come alive through the rhythm, movement, and expression of our youth. Tonight’s performance is more than dance—it’s a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the unifying power of culture.
The City of Miramar has always embraced the arts as a cornerstone of our community. Through programs like this, we open doors for young and emerging talent from Jamaica to share their gifts, learn from one another, and build bridges of understanding that transcend borders.
Carson “Eddy” Edwards Commissioner
Our city’s diversity is our strength. Each culture, each voice, each performance adds to the rich tapestry that makes Miramar a place where creativity flourishes and every story finds its stage.
Thank you for supporting the arts, our youth, and our shared commitment to cultural exchange. Together, we keep the spirit of Miramar vibrant, dynamic, and full of life.
Warm regards,
Commissioner Carson “Eddy” Edwards City of Miramar
I am truly humbled by this opportunity to present Vibrations with the Campion College Dance Society. More than anything, it is a privilege to showcase the brilliance of these young Jamaican dancers and artists, whose talent and commitment stand as a testament to the power of our culture.
It is always an honor to share our heritage on international stages, reconnecting with the diaspora and a rming the boldness and audacity of Jamaican culture. Indeed, “wi likkle but wi tallawah.” I am especially grateful to Commissioner Carson “Eddy” Edwards for extending this opportunity to us. This moment will be etched in the memory of our performers, teachers, and parents who form the Vibrations cast.
We are deeply thankful to the parents of the dancers, who have made tremendous sacrifices to ensure their children could seize this opportunity, and to our principal, Dr. Lavare Henry, for his steadfast support of the arts at Campion College. Last, but by no means least, I wish to recognize Sharon Williams-Christie, past student of Campion and proud resident of South Florida, for her extraordinary e orts in coordinating this tour and ensuring that everything runs smoothly for our students.
Special thanks must also be extended to my artistic team, administrative and technical sta , and the choreographers of Vibrations. Your vision, creativity, and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this production to life.
Vibrations is more than a performance; it is a journey into the very spirit of Jamaica and the Caribbean. Endorsed by Jamaica’s Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport, the production reflects the way of life of our people. Within it, you will not only encounter the social and economic realities that shape us as a small island developing nation, but also the joy of our resilience, the richness of our achievements, and the undeniable force of our culture, a culture that transcends borders, whether through music, dance, sport, or simply the indomitable spirit of our people.
At its core, Vibrations celebrates the essence of who we are: a people whose rhythm, creativity, and warmth extend far beyond our shores. For the next two hours, we invite you to be transported to Jamaica, to feel the pulse of our drums, the beat of our island, and the soul of our people. Relive familiar stories, embrace new ones, and allow the movements and music to stir your memory and spirit.
Dance is such an exquisitely ephemeral art form. As it disappears before you, only traces remain in your memory and in the bodies of the dancers. From our opening piece Cry of Africa to the dance-drama Jamaica Love, you will witness the raw kinetic energy of a talented and dedicated group of young Jamaicans.
May the Vibrations tonight move your spirit, and may they dance within your soul.
