DIRECTORS’ MESSAGES TERRENCE E. GRIFFIN, DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION Welcome all prospective Summer Campers and Parents! My name is Terrence Griffin and I am the Director of Parks & Recreation, the department which oversees and manages the various recreational facilities your children will be attending. The City prides itself in providing superior services to its citizens and residents.

Once again, the Parks & Recreation Department will endeavor to produce various summer camp programs that will keep your children motivated and safe during their summer vacation.

Our coordinators and facility supervisors have worked diligently planning and scheduling a variety of fun and exciting activities along with field-trips for our campers. We’re looking forward to you joining us for a dynamic 2017 Summer Camp Program!!!

We are excited that you have chosen the City of Miramar to engage your child in a fun-filled and exciting educational journey for the next ten weeks where they will enjoy weekly field trips, special guests, indoor/outdoor activities and so much more. Our facilities are fully licensed and accredited and our highly trained full-time staff is equipped to provide excellent facilitation and supervision. We look forward to a rewarding experience for our staff, our parents and most importantly, our children.

STEPHEN KANTROWITZ, DIRECTOR OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS We are delighted to present our 6th annual seven week visual and performing arts Little Broadway Summer Camp 2017!

The Miramar Cultural Center prides itself on delivering Little Broadway as an integral part of our Education programming for youth ages 8 to 14 years old. This fun-filled summer theatre arts camp, which includes weekly field trips, is designed for youth with all levels of ability and experience.

Working with a creative team (director, choreographer and production manager), campers will rehearse and perform a major musical theatre production with full sets, costumes, lighting and sound that will culminate with an “end of summer camp performance�.

Miramar Cultural Center is committed to enriching, entertaining and educating children through the magic of professional theatre. We look forward to welcoming your child to Little Broadway Summer Camp 2017 at the Miramar Cultural Center!

MIRAMARVELS SUMMER CAMP When school is out, fun is in!

Miramarvels Summer Camp is a traditional summer day camp for children going into first grade through 5th grade. The summer will be filled with fun themed activities, field trips, special guests, crafts, games, treasure hunts, dress up days, brain teasers, puzzles and so much more!

MAXIMIZING OUT-OF-SCHOOL-TIME Children’s Services Council Grant Funded Camp

PROGRAM HOURS: 7:30am to 5:00pm PROGRAM DATES: June 12th through August 11th ELIGIBILITY: CSC-funded programs are intended for disadvantaged children residing in Broward County Title I public schools targeted communities. Children must be students in either Fairway Elementary to attend Fairway Park or A.C. Perry Elementary to attend Miramar Youth Enrichment Center.

COST: Sliding fee scale: The program utilizes the CSC’s fee scale.

REGISTRATION: $12.00 for a single child or $18.00 for a family entering 2 or more children.

JUMP START TO KINDERGARTEN CAMP Staffed by year-round teachers, this camp offers a fun and educational program created to assist children in the transition from pre-school to kindergarten and is designed to keep children learning and engaged over the summer. PROGRAM HOURS: 9:00am to 12:30pm Extended care is available from 7:00am to 9:00am and 12:30pm to 6:00pm daily for an additional fee.

MIRAMAR TEEN CAMP Campers 13-16 years old will be on the go daily by participating in educational and fun field trips. Special activities are also included. This camp will meet Monday through Thursday. The campers will enjoy a variety of field trips within the surrounding area. For more information, call 954-602-3319.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: On a daily basis, children must bring water, bathing suit, towel, and a change of clothes unless informed otherwise.

LITTLE BROADWAY SUMMER CAMP Presented by the Miramar Cultural Center|ArtsPark, Little Broadway Camp embraces the visual and performing arts, and culminates with a theater performance that involves all children. Sessions offered include singing, acting, dancing (choreography/technique), musical theater, visual art and musical instruments. Additional camp highlights include special guest master artists, lunch ‘n learn with guest speakers and field trips.

MEALS: Campers may bring their own lunch; however, lunch and snacks will be on sale.

PROGRAM HOURS: 9:00am t0 5:00pm Before Care from 7:30am and After Care until 6:00pm. There will be no supervision of children outside of these hours.

Little Broadway

PROGRAM DATES: June 26th through August 11th, with the final dress

rehearsal on August 12th and a public performance

in the Theatre on Tuesday evening, August 7th 2016.

ELIGIBILITY: Ages 8 – 14 years old Children will be grouped based on age.

SUMMER SWIM CAMP This Aquatic Swim Camp is a great opportunity for your children to take swim classes and to learn water safety education. Our qualified and experienced water safety instructors will teach your children the essentials to stay safe when they are in or near the water. Each day your children will participate in swimming lessons as well as various age appropriate organized aquatic and water safety activities. Various indoor games, movies and activities, including arts and crafts, will be incorporated into the daily curriculum to increase your child’s personal and physical development. Field trips are scheduled for Thursdays.

MEALS:

Children must bring a packed lunch and water bottle with their name on it daily. Pizza will be provided each Friday.

MIRAMAR SPORTS CAMP Sports & Fundamentals Camp is designed to introduce campers to a variety of sports to help develop individual skills and techniques. A different sport will be featured each week where campers will learn the history and basic fundamentals of the sport through drills, games, and tournament play. Guest speakers and education will also be a component of this exciting camp.

MEALS:

Children must bring a packed lunch and snacks daily.

A nutritional breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack will be provided daily. Thesecamp locations participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Campers have the option if they wish to bring lunch and snacks.

SNACKS PROGRAM HOURS:

Ages 6 - 12 years old
