Please note that not all camps accept waiting lists. • Credit/refund requests must be made at least three days prior to the start of a camp. Refunds can be added to your household account or issued via check or credit card; there are no cash refunds. Explore some of the skills your great-grandparents utilized before the invention of refrigerators and freezers. This program is designed for teens who are ready to take on new challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities through a fun summer camp experience. Our Counselor In Training (CIT) program is a great first step into volunteerism. The benefits of the position are that the CIT has opportunities to gain experiences such as leadership, accountability, self-confidence and teamwork in a fun and engaging environment. This program will also teach social, organization and networking skills our teens will need as adults. CITs are selected through an application and interview process, will have a weekend training session prior to the start of summer and at the end will receive an official City of Lakewood letter of their contribution, which is great for a future resume. CITs are required to sign up for a minimum of three weeks of volunteering within the Heritage, Culture & Arts camps (art, music, theater and history), spots are limited. *CIT FIELD EXPERIENCE Upon the completion of the training course teens will be placed in to 2 weeks of field experience between June 18 and August 10. The Carmody Park Outdoor Fitness Zone in partnership with Centura Health allows patrons, regardless of fitness level, to focus on cardiovascular fitness, resistance training, and core/ab work, all in one convenient outdoor area. Some of the equipment is wheelchair accessible. The outdoor fitness zone is strategically placed so that patrons with children will be able to supervise their children at the adjacent universal playground and athletic fields while simultaneously getting a workout of their own.
