This week, we recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week by celebrating the communication heroes that work behind the scenes – our Police Dispatchers! From the first moment of crisis to the calming voice on the other end of the line, our dispatchers are a lifeline in the community. Their dedication, resilience, and commitment to public safety are truly remarkable. Today, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of our dispatchers. Your quick thinking, compassion, and professionalism make a lasting impact every single day, and we are incredibly thankful for your service.
On April 7, 2025 the City Council held its fifth public hearing to to receive community input regarding the proposed final map, and any other published draft maps. After thoughtful deliberation, the Council chose to prioritize Draft Map D. On April 21, 2025 the City Council will consider an ordinance to adopt that map and select the two district seats that will be up for election in 2026 and the three district seats that will be up for election in 2028. Members of the public are encouraged to provide their feedback at the next public hearing. For additional information, please visit healdsburg.gov/districtelections.
On April 7, 2025, the Council conducted a review of our parklet program. Healdsburg currently has 17 parklets. They take up 40 parking spaces, which is just about 3% of our total downtown parking inventory. We heard from residents who support the program because it adds liveliness and activity to our downtown area and some who
oppose it due to parking concerns. Many businesses shared that the program is extremely beneficial. The Council indicated support for continuing the program although we plan to make some administrative changes to help it function better. The Council will consider adopting amendments to the program later this year.
On March 17, 2025 the City Council proclaimed that April 2025 is "Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month" in Healdsburg! Arts, Culture & Creativity Month celebrates the impact the arts have on our community, and the vibrant cultural and creative character that makes Healdsburg so unique. This statewide initiative celebrates the vital role that the arts play in building a thriving community.
Throughout the month, Healdsburg will showcase its remarkable creative scene with dynamic performances, exhibitions, and hands-on activities. Everyone is invited to celebrate and advocate for arts, culture, & creativity by experiencing events produced by local artists, cultural organizations and arts educators. From gallery openings and live music to theater productions and interactive workshops, there are opportunities for all ages to participate.

On Tuesday April 22nd, the Planning Commission will consider a Major Design Review for renovations to the Boys and Girls Club. The project proposes to retain the existing gym, and proposes demolition of the existing structure beyond the gym to make way for a new state of the art facility. The proposed facility will contain a 10,782 square foot clubhouse that will include a culinary, art, STEM, learning lab, performing arts, and teen program around a central activity hub. The project will also update the existing 4,800 square foot gym, and add new outdoor spaces and upgrade the parking, sidewalks, landscaping and utilities.
