HEALDSBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE

Station 2

1804 Healdsburg Ave

The City of Healdsburg invites residents to a Community Open House at the new Fire Department Station 2 on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11:00 a m to 1:00 p m This event offers a first look at the city’s newest fire station and an opportunity to meet the firefighters who serve our community

Guests can explore the station and apparatus bays, climb aboard the fire engines, and watch live demonstrations, including CPR practice and fire-extinguisher techniques. Children are welcome to join in handson activities and try on firefighter gear for photo opportunities.

The Healdsburg Police Department (HPD) will be on site alongside CAL FIRE, COPE, and FireSafe Sonoma, providing resources and highlighting how local agencies work together to keep residents safe.

This open house also coincides with the culmination of Fire Prevention Week 2025, which emphasizes the growing importance of lithium-battery safety. Fire personnel will share practical tips for charging, storing, and disposing of lithium-powered devices to help prevent fires at home and work.

Complimentary tacos will be served while supplies last.

SMART STATION IN HEALDSBURG

There’s a train coming to town! The Board of Directors of Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) authorized extension of the SMART train through Healdsburg at its September 17, 2025 meeting.

Design work is scheduled to start this fall. SMART has released an initial goal of beginning passenger train service in Healdsburg by the end of 2028. We will provide more detailed scheduling as well as periodic updates and project information as it becomes available.

If you are interested in project updates from SMART on the Healdsburg extension, you can subscribe to receive e-mails here

FOSS CREEK CLEAN-UP CRUD CUPWINNERS

The annual Foss Creek Clean-Up took place on September 20, 2025, and drew 82 volunteers! It was a wonderful turnout that reflects Healdsburg’s strong community pride and support. Vice Mayor Chris Herrod helped kick off the event with opening remarks, setting the tone for a morning of teamwork and stewardship. Volunteers were supported with breakfast from the Healdsburg Rotary Club, lunch and noon refreshments courtesy of the Kiwanis Club, and on-the-ground leadership from Stacy & Witbeck/Herzog, who provided staff and trucks to coordinate at the staging stations.

Over the course of the morning, volunteers removed an estimated 40 cubic yards of trash from the creek and surrounding areas — everything from discarded cigarette butts to large items like tractor tires

This year’s Crud Cup was awarded to Scout Pack 21, who stood out for their enthusiasm, spirit, and strong group turnout. The pack arrived in matching attire, stayed energized throughout the day, and brought a contagious sense of camaraderie that encouraged other groups along the creek.
