Election Day Voting - Nov. 5 - Polls Open 7 AM - 8 PM
City of Delano residents can vote on Election Day, Nov 5, at Delano City Hall from 7 AM - 8 PM
In state or federal elections, every employee has the right to be excused from work to vote on Election Day without penalty or loss of salary or wages per MN Statute 204C 04 Please note that you must be in line by 8 PM to be eligible to vote.
All polling places have a booth accessible for persons with disabilities In addition, there is a machine to assist the voter in marking the ballot Voters unable to enter a polling place may, with the assistance of two election judges of different political parties, register and vote without leaving their vehicle. Absentee voting is also available before Election Day.
Election results can be obtained on the City of Delano website (www.delanomn.gov) or on the Wright County Website (www.co.wright.mn.us).
Please note that Delano City Hall is the polling place for City of Delano residents only. To find your polling place, please visit pollfinder.sos.mn.us.
Campaign/Political Yard Signs Removal Reminder - Nov. 15
According to MN Statute 211B 045, political signs must be removed no later than Nov 15, 2024 This includes yard signs If you have any questions about political signs after elections, please contact Zoning Enforcement Specialist Jake Rock at (763) 972-0566
Yard Waste Bins - Last Pick-Up Day - Nov. 14
The last yard waste collection day from Republic Services will be on Thursday, Nov 14 Yard waste includes grass, leaves, branches, and yard debris. For any questions, please contact Republic Services at (763) 972-3335.
Winter Parking Is In Effect from Nov. 1, 2024 - Apr. 1, 2025
It’s important to remember that snow is on the way! Winter parking regulations start Nov. 1, 2024, and run until Apr. 1, 2025. During this time, parking is prohibited from 2 AM to 7 AM on all streets, avenues, and alleys This is to ensure that our Public Works team has the space they need to efficiently clear the roads All vehicles parked in public parking lots must be moved at least once every 24 hours
Please remember that it is also unlawful to park on any street after two inches or more of snow has accumulated until the street is fully plowed Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Delano City Council & Commission Meetings Recap
This section offers a brief summary of what was discussed during the previous month’s Council and Commission meetings and is not an official documentation of meeting minutes Official minutes will be posted at www.delanomn.gov/agendacenter upon approval.
Public Safety Commission - Met on October 7
The Public Safety Commission discussed a resident's request to install an AED near the pickleball courts; staff will explore options. Commission members considered two throwable flotation device options for the downtown river area and recommended that city staff assess feasibility and liability. Updates on traffic concerns included:
Liberty Landing Speeding: Summer speed data analysis showed no concerns and no further action is needed at this time. Tiger Drive Speeding: September speed data indicated a speeding concern. Staff has requested increased presence from the Wright County Sheriff's Office. Commission members recommended that staff research methods to reduce vehicle speeds on Tiger Drive
Elm Avenue Speeding: The speed data collection sign will be relocated to Elm Avenue next
Spirit of Community Commission - Met on October 8
The Spirit of Community Commission discussed Clara Lawrence's application to be the commission's youth liaison and voted to recommend her for approval to the City Council The commission received an update on the Sesquicentennial preparations from member Michelle Dirckx Staff shared the final details for the Oct 12 Volunteer Fair The commission reviewed its goals The concept of accessibility beyond physical accessibility was discussed, and staff is slated to bring current event accessibility requirements back to the commission in November
Park and Recreation Commission - Met on October 23
The Park and Recreation Commission discussed the potential for a disc golf course on City land near the Liberty Landing neighborhood with a local resident. In order to gauge the immediate community's opinions on the course, the commission will be distributing a survey in the coming months. Staff gave a report on the 2024 Splashpad season and introduced new Recreation Coordinator, Courtney Muckenhirn. The commission discussed the challenges presented by the planned trail near new Riverwaters development and the benefits of creating a temporary gravel trail until a permanent trail could be constructed. The commission agrees to adjust their schedule for the upcoming holidays to meet on Dec. 4 in place of their usual November and December meetings.
Planning Commission - Canceled
The Planning Commission meeting on Oct. 14 was canceled.
City Council - Met on October 1, 15, 24, & 29
October 1, 2024 (Regular Meeting): Staff informed the City Council about a potential opportunity to allow Ridgewater College to utilize unused space in a City facility to provide educational opportunities for employees of local businesses. The City Council also received an update from staff about the potential paving of 90th Street Southeast and County Line Road The Council authorized the advertisement for bids of reed bed evacuation work at the Waste Water Treatment Plant
October 15, 2024 (Regular Meeting): The City Council approved three special events taking place in November and December. Clara Lawrence was appointed as a Youth Liaison for the Spirit of Community Commission. The City Council adopted a resolution approving the Final Plat for River Waters 2nd Addition The Council also awarded the Waste Water Treatment Plant Evacuation project to Veit & Company Inc
October 24, 2024 (Special Meeting): The City Council met with representatives from the Minnesota Department of Transportation to go over the Highway 12 survey results. MnDOT went over the three proposed solutions and answered questions from councilmembers. No action was taken.
October 29, 2024 (Regular Workshop): The City Council approved an early grading agreement for Legacy Woods 3rd Addition Staff also presented a grant opportunity through MnDOT for a potential Crow River pedestrian/bicycle bridge, which has an estimated cost of about $3 million. The Council approved a letter of intent for the City, which will provide insights into the likelihood of grant approval. Depending on the feedback received, the Council may adjust the scope of the requested funding. The Council also entered a closed session to discuss a potential purchase agreement in the West Metro Business Park, located on the western edge of Outlot C.
