Concerts in the Park - July/August 2025
The General Federated Women's Club of Delano presents Concerts in the Park, which will be held at the Gazebo in Central Park from 6:30 PM - 8 PM on the following dates (be sure to bring a chair or blanket!):
July 16: Delano Community Band | 6:30-8 PM
July 23: Dave’s Big Fun Show | 6:30 - 8 PM
Pizza Fundraiser at Delano Senior Center | 4-6:15 PM

If there is inclement weather, Concerts in the Park will be held at the Delano Senior Center.
Fire Department Open House - June 25, 2025 | 6:30 - 8 PM
Join our team! The Delano Fire Department is hosting an open house on Wednesday, June 25 from 6:30 - 8 PM. Stop by and learn more about how to become a firefighter, compensation and benefits, tour the department, and meet with current firefighters. There will be a presentation at 6:45 PM. Partners and family are invited to join!

This position will be responsible for recording and cablecasting all Planning Commission and Water, Light and Power Commission meetings. The 2025 pay rate for this position is $92.26 per meeting. Delano Farmers Market - Open Wednesdays | 2 - 6 PM
Located on the corner of Hwy 12 and County Road in the Flippin’ Bills’ parking lot, the Farmers Market is open every Wednesday from 2 PM – 6 PM, May through October. Be sure to stop by this summer!

Spirit of Community Commission Recap - met on May 13
The Spirit of Community Commission discussed the Sesquicentennial, an opening on the commission, and reviewed the commission's goals. They also discussed the possibility of combining the Volunteer and Community Fair with the annual Waffle Breakfast, as well as some ideas for the 2025 National Night Out event.

City Council Recap - met on May 6, 20, & 27
May 6 (Regular Meeting): The City Council approved event licenses for River Street Jam (May 31), Delano Sculpture and Blues Fest (June 14), Delano 4th of July Celebration (July 3-6), and Minnesota Oktoberfest (Sept 19-20). The Council authorized hiring seasonal employees for Public Works and the Splashpad. Paula Bauman, Administrative Services Director, presented an update on the Administration Department highlighting roles and responsibilities of staff and current projects within the department.
May 20 (Regular Meeting): The City Council approved special event licenses for the Taste of Delano (Aug 6) and the Delano City Wide Garage Sales (Aug 14-16) The Council also authorized the hiring of a new Deputy Clerk
May 27 (Regular Workshop Meeting): The City Council received an update from the Wright County Sheriff's Department recommending an increase in service hours over the next few years. The City received a clean result for its 2024 Audit. Staff presented on the 5-year budget forecast, including numbers such as the expected tax rate. Staff and representatives of the Historical Society gave an update on the Heritage Center rehabilitation progress. The City Council discussed a request for sewer and water access from a business outside of city limits. The Council also discussed a real estate negotiation in closed session.

Summer Construction/Development Updates
90th Street and County Line Road:
The City has a construction contract with Duininck (contractor) for the planned pavement work on 90th Street and County Line Road This project will replace the existing drainage culverts, complete minor widening and elevation adjustments to the existing gravel surface, stabilize the gravel base with cement, then place bituminous pavement The contractor is finalizing their construction schedule but is anticipating the work will begin in July 2025 Estimated timeline from start to completion is approximately 8 weeks, weather dependent
