Now Hiring: Engineering Technician

The City of Delano is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician ($33 73–$42 72/hour, DOQ) to support the Engineering/Public Works Department through a variety of technical, administrative, and field duties. This role includes reviewing right-of-way and building permits, conducting field inspections, preparing construction plans, and coordinating with the public and contractors on infrastructure projects. Lawn Watering Reminders

Lawn watering restrictions go into effect again on June 1! Properties with address numbers ending in odd numbers may water only on odd numbered calendar days Even address numbered properties may water only on even numbered calendar days For example – 845 20th Street would water on odd calendar days

Watering is, on all days for all properties, prohibited between 7 AM – 7 PM. Watering is allowed before 7 AM and after 7 PM on applicable even/odd days. For exceptions, questions or to learn more, please visit www.delanomn.us or contact Delano Municipal Utilities directly at (763) 972-0557.

Get a Free Yard Waste Bin

City of Delano residents can request a yard waste bin from Republic Services at no additional cost. Yard waste is collected on Thursdays in the Spring/Summer/Fall. Residents keep their bins over the winter. For any questions, please contact Republic Services at (763) 972-3335.

Spirit of Community Commission Recap - met on April 8

The Spirit of Community Commission received an update on the Sesquicentennial Committee's activity. Three members of the Delano Diversity Task Force presented on the research they have done for the SQ Committee related to the Native population of what is now Delano. The Task Force members also gave an update on the topic of immigration rights. The commission discussed the "Understanding Disability" Education Event that was held in March. The recommended the approval of a Public Event Accessibility Tip Sheet to the City Council. They also discussed the Community Expo taking place on May 10.

Public Safety Commission Recap - met on April 7

The Public Safety Commission received a presentation from Alex Roeser regarding plans for this year’s annual 4th of July Celebration. A key update included the addition of Ridgeview EMTs, who will now be stationed in the park full-time during the event. The commission also approved a motion to relocate the speed sign from McKinley Parkway to Franklin Avenue West, near the pond across from the park. Additionally, the commission decided to table the discussion on investing in a security trailer for now. Members also proposed the idea of adding river flotation devices in public spaces near the river for emergency use. City staff will research this further.

Planning Commission Recap - April 14 meeting canceled

and Recreation Commission Recap - met on April 23

The Park and Recreation Commission discussed design options for the Central Park Improvement Plan. Stakeholders from various longstanding community events offered their input. Staff presented plans for the 2025 Splashpad season. The commission discussed plans for a Memorial Bench Program. Staff provided an update on the Spirit Park project.

City Council Recap - met on April 1, 15, 21 and 29

April 1 (Regular Meeting): The City Council discussed the Prairie Ridge Subdivision and tabled the consideration of the request for development approvals until their May 6th meeting. The Council adopted an ordinance amending industrial building requirements concerning exterior materials Finally, the Council awarded the bid of the pavement of 90th Street SE and County Line Road to Duinick, Inc

April 15 (Regular Meeting): The City Council authorized the creation of an Engineering Technician position and amended the Fee Schedule for renting the Senior Center, Council Chambers, and Community Room The Council voted to table the adoption of a Public Event Accessibility Tip Sheet Michelle Dirckx, chairperson of the Sesquicentennial Committee, presented an update on SQ Committee activities Jeffrey Cielocha presented a Public Safety Department update

April 23 (Special Joint Meeting with DMU): The City Council received an update from Delano Municipal Utilities staff on utility rates and planned infrastructure improvements, either a cistern or second water tower depending on the growth rate of the city.

April 29 (Regular Workshop Meeting): The City Council discussed ongoing litigation and listened to a presentation from City staff concerning the City's planning and development process The Council discussed and passed an Accessibility Tip Sheet to be offered as a resource to those organizing special events in Delano Staff presented the findings of a corridor study on County Road 30 and County Road 16 Staff also provided updates on the Sculpture Park, Compost Site, and Crow River Rehab project
