Dear American Canyon Community,

Please join me in welcoming Probationary Firefighter/Paramedic Manuel Conde to the American Canyon Fire Protection District. Fresh from completing a joint fire academy with Vallejo Fire Department, Probationary Firefighter Conde now begins his 18-month training period with us. We’re excited to have him on board.

We also proudly congratulate Probationary Firefighters Cummings and Loughran for completing their final training module. Over the last 18 months, they’ve mastered an extensive curriculum of firefighting techniques, driver/operator skills, pumping and engineering, and life-saving interventions all while actively responding to calls and serving our community. Their dedication is a testament to the commitment we ask of all AmCanFire personnel.

You may have noticed our four-legged fire prevention team still hard at work yes, the sheep are back! Their grazing efforts in those “hard to reach” areas are making a big difference, effectively reducing fuel loads and fire hazards across town.

Lastly, we ’ re looking forward to teaming up with our partners at the American Canyon Police Department for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5th. This event is always a highlight for us, giving our crews a chance to meet you right in your own neighborhoods.

Stay fire safe, American Canyon!

Module 4

Please join us in congratulating Probationary Firefighters Cummings and Loughran on successfully completing Module 4 the final milestone in their 18-month training journey! This cumulative test caps off months of dedication to mastering firefighting skills, driver/operator responsibilities, pumping operations, and the power of teamwork. We're proud to have them on the line and as part our family, serving the American Canyon community with skill and heart.

EXPLORER EXPLORER CORNER CORNER Hose

This month, our Fire Explorers got hands-on with one of the most essential tasks in the fire service—hose testing. Each year, fire departments across the country perform annual hose testing to ensure every length of hose is safe, functional, and ready for emergency use. Our Explorers had the opportunity to learn just how critical this process is.

Hoses are a lifeline on the fireground. If one fails, it can delay water delivery during fire attack operations—and in a real emergency, seconds matter. That’s why we take testing seriously. The Explorers inspected, laid out, pressurized, and rolled hose—gaining insight into the attention to detail and teamwork required to maintain our equipment.

By practicing these skills now, our Explorers are preparing for real-world responsibilities, learning not just how to test hose—but why it matters. We're proud of their continued growth and commitment to learning the fundamentals of the fire service. Great work, team!
