Orinda Baseball Association

California Magic Soccer Club

The Orinda Baseball Association (OBA) was established to develop and support an outstanding baseball program for youth baseball in Orinda. The mission of OBA is to effectively govern and implement a youth baseball program in which the dedicated and prospectively talented youth baseball player can obtain a positive, competitive and rewarding developmental and participatory experience in the game of baseball. To achieve this, OBA will continue to develop players and managers/coaches through excellent instruction, sportsmanship and healthy competition; support and encourage personal growth of players in a fun, competitive environment; emphasize that winning is a byproduct, not the sole goal; engage and educate parents to understand and reinforce the above; and focus on quality in all endeavors (fields, clinics, equipment, umpires, etc.).

California Magic Soccer Club was founded with a vision to add value to the world by coaching members to realize and unleash their potential. Its mission is to educate, inspire, and empower individuals for excellence through a transformational soccer experience. The organization emphasizes that personal and soccer development go hand in hand. Personal growth is a long-term developmental process, and soccer is a late specialization sport; both require significant commitment and effort from the club, the player, and the family. Active participation is essential for progress—there are no shortcuts.

A child’s healthy physical and emotional development always comes first. The East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club bases its club and coaching philosophy on five P’s: players, people, potential, passion and play. Participation in the club will allow the kids to not only grow as players but grow as people with the goal of improving in all aspects of their lives (family, friends, school, etc.).

Taijiquan (Tai Chi/Qigong)

AGES: 18Y & UP

INSTRUC TOR: MARILYN COOPER

Class starts with Qigong, which means Energy Work. Warm-ups come next, which define the range of motion for Tai Chi, stretch the tendons and strengthen the muscles. Tai Chi forms are based on three main precepts: Slow, Sink and Soft. “Tai Chi originates in the Mind.” Once movements are memorized, students join them together in one continuous flow, which creates a Mind, Body, Spirit connection and a well-earned, elevated state of being. Beginners start with one hour and then advance to sustain their concentration for one-and-a-halfhour class. Beginners can stay to copy advanced students. We introduce Push Hands from the beginning, a non-injurious method of Tai Chi sparring, which teaches sensitivity, centering and rooting. Code
