Annual Registration Fee

A mandatory $25 annual registration fee is required to participate in recreation and aquatic classes, lessons, camps, leagues, and programs. This per household annual fee is valid for one year from the date of purchase and required at the time of registration. Once purchased all household members are eligible for enrollment.

Refund Policy

Except as otherwise stated, refunds or credits will not be issued after payment has been made for an activity, class, league or program.

Exceptions include:

• If a program or class is cancelled by the City of Litchfield Park.

• If a participant is injured or unable to participate due to a medical reason.

Refund requests outside of the stated exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Refunds are made at the discretion of the Community & Recreation Services Director and are not guarenteed.

The “Request for Refund” form can be obtained at the front desk or online at litchfield-park.org/241.

A $10 administrative fee will be deducted from all approved refund requests. Annual registration fees are non-refundable.

Residency

Our registration system automatically verifies residency. You can check your residency status by viewing the Map of City Limits. Unfortunately, customers living in County Islands are not eligible to receive resident registration rates. If you are charged a non-resident fee while completing your registration, we will be happy to re-verify your address to confirm your residency. You will be asked to provide one or more of the following documents to verify residency: current driver’s license, current utility bill in your name or most recent year’s property tax bill.

Weather Policy

AQUATICS

In the event an Aquatics class being cancelled due to inclement weather, one make-up lesson will be offered per session. Details will be emailed out to participants if affected.

YOUTH SPORTS

In the event games are cancelled due to inclement weather, no make-up games will be scheduled. Practices will be rescheduled at the coach’s discretion and not guaranteed.

SPECIAL EVENTS Events will be held rain or shine!

COVID-19 Policy

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By entering our facilities, you voluntarily assume all risks related to the possible exposure to COVID-19. Effective May 1, 2021, the City of Litchfield Park no longer requires the use of face masks at City parks, recreation facilities, or at City-sponsored events. However, face masks and social distancing are still encouraged. Routine sanitization continues to be implemented by our staff. This policy is subject to change. Lap Swim

Two lap lanes are offered during open swim hours. From August 8 - September 5, one lap lane will be available Monday - Wednesday during the open swim hours unless reserved for programming. Lanes are first come, first served.

Litchfield Lagartos Summer Swim Team

Registration for the 2022 Lagartos Summer Swim Team will begin on Monday, April 18, 2022 and end on Friday, June 17. The Lagartos swim team is a summer recreational team with swim coaches dedicated to participants learning all four strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle), building endurance and swimming skills in a fun, low stress, and safe environment! Participants will make new friends and be introduced to the competitive swimming world all while improving their swimming skills. Lagartos is designed for children 4 - 18 years of age. In person registration only.

SWIM TEAM REQUIREMENTS

Participants must be able to swim one lap of the pool (25 yards) unassisted. The age group the participant will swim in is determined by their age on June 1, 2022 due to league regulations.*

*Swim-up Policy: If a participant between the ages of 9 - 14 has participated in any swimming team/club outside of the MarWest League from August 1, 2021 thru May 1, 2022, the participant must compete one age group higher due to league restrictions.

Swim meets are scheduled for Friday evenings and Saturday mornings to compete against participating MarWest league teams at both home (Litchfield Park Recreation Center) and away (participating teams) pools. Additional information about the season can be found in the registration packets

Youth Group Lessons ($36R/$43NR)

Youth group lessons are held for two consecutive weeks, Monday - Thursday for 30 minute lessons. Recommended for children 6 - 14 years old. The Litchfield Park Rec Center is streamlining its registration process for youth group lessons! When registering for swim lessons all you need to do is choose the session date and time that works best for your schedule. For in depth swim level descriptions, go to litchfield-park.org/160

LPRC Instructors are American Red Cross certified and will conduct a quick 10 minute skills assessment on the first day of class to evaluate your child’s swimming skills. From there your child will be placed in the appropriate class, along with other similarly skilled children. All classes will maintain a 1 instructor to 8 participants ratio and will be 30 minutes in length. Maximum of 32 participants per session time. R = Resident NR = Non-Resident

Preschool Aquatics Group Lessons ($36R/$43NR)

Intended for preschool aged children (3 - 6 years old) who are being introduced to water and are ready for the first stages of swimming. This class introduces basic aquatic skills: being comfortable in the water, developing positive attitudes and effective habits to be safe in and around the water, blowing bubbles, back floats, front and back glides, learning good kicks, and arm movements. Lessons are held for two consecutive weeks, Monday - Thursday.

The foundation of Parent-Tot is for participants to gain a set of basic skills that help prepare infants and young children to become comfortable in the water so they are willing and ready to learn to swim. This class also provides parents with information and techniques to create safer aquatic environments for their children. R = Resident NR = Non-Resident

A parent or guardian must be in the water with their child at all times and a swim diaper must be worn if not potty-trained. Maximum of 8 participants per session time.

Private lessons are for children and adults who desire one-on-one instruction to learn how to swim and further develop swimming skills. Designed for ages 11 - 14, this course helps build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards. This course introduces participants to lifesaving skills, such as: in-water rescues, use of a rescue tube, first-aid skills, CPR, and how to use an AED. No certification earned in this class.

Water Aerobics ($40R/$50NR)

The benefits of water aerobics are endless! Not only is it a fun way to accomplish a great workout; exercising in the water, unlike land aerobics, reduces the stress on the joints, especially ankles, knees and hips. Preschool Program

Preschool for children 3.5 - 5 years of age.

Students that are enrolling in ABC Explorers must be 4 years of age on August 1, 2022 but do not turn 5 before January 1, 2023. Adventures in Learning students must be 3.5 or 4 years of age on August 1, 2022.

Overview

Our preschool program provides many opportunities for children to discover and learn while exploring the world around them. We offer a progressive theme-based curriculum including story time, art, creative social play, music/ movement, small and large motor skills as well as alpha numeric concepts in a sensitive and safe learning environment. Our preschool program offers low student to teacher ratios so that each child will have the opportunity for individual attention. We conveniently offer morning and afternoon classes. Classes start the second week of August 2022 and are ongoing through May 2023.

Registration

August enrollees must schedule a tour with the teacher, remit 50% of their August tuition plus the $40 materials fee, which are non-refundable. All August balances are due by July 15. Monthly tuition is due by the 15th of the month. If tuition remains unpaid on the 16th a $15 late fee will be assessed. Online registration is not available for this program. Enrollment approval from the preschool teacher is required. We accept new enrollments any time during the school year provding there is space availability.

The children will learn through activity exploration. They will increase fine and gross motor skills, develop positive feelings, and establish new friendships. This program is an opportunity for your child to grow socially, emotionally, physically, and explore concepts in their “first” learning environment.

Tennis

Tennis lessons will focus on stroke development including forehand, backhand, serve volley, and overhead through rally play, and live ball drills. Hand-eye coordination, footwork, teamwork, cooperation, score-keeping, and rules will also be incorporated.

Note: In case of rain, Coach Amanda will notify all participants of the makeup class day. Classes held at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center tennis courts. Maximum of 12 participants per session time.

Challenger Soccer Camp

Players will learn the Challenger way, featuring an appbased platform which will help players prepare before camp, efficiently during camp, and help them continue their education and skill development with camp homework and on-going virtual training throughout their season. Adult Cornhole Tournament

This is a one day 32 team co-ed adult tournament. Participants must be 21+ years old. It will be held on Saturday November 19, 2022. We will have outside vendors for drinks and food. Cost per team is $50. Register in person or email the team roster form to the sports department.

Youth Coach Pitch ($77R/$97NR)

The co-ed youth coach pitch baseball league is for children ages 7 and 8. The volunteer coach will schedule one practice day a week; either Monday or Wednesday. Games will be played on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

The programs and services provided by our Community and Recreation Services Department are a strong component of the high quality of life that our community members enjoy. We recognize that businesses and organizations greatly contribute to our community’s quality of life. Whether it is through employment opportunities, positive economic impact, or charitable endeavors, community partners make a difference in Litchfield Park. Our goal is to foster lasting relationships with our partners.

We offer a variety of opportunities to meet your needs and budget.

Rec Center Facility Policies

• All patrons utilize the Rec Center facilities and participate in activities at their own risk.

• Children 9 and under must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times, unless the child is participating in a supervised recreation program. Please see the Front Desk for specific policies regarding weight room and pool use by minors.

• Patrons must wear appropriate attire at all times. Clothing that is offensive, suggestive or overly revealing is not allowed. Shoes and shirts are required at all times, except while in the pool area. Proper swim attire is required in order to swim in the pool. Anyone in violation of the dress code will be asked to change clothes or leave the facility.

• Use of cameras, cell phone cameras, and video cameras are prohibited in all bathrooms and changing rooms. Any photography must be approved by management.

• Smoking devices, tobacco, drugs, alcohol, and weapons are prohibited while using the Rec Center facilities.

VISION STATEMENT &

• Animals are prohibited unless they are registered service animals accompanying persons with disabilities or special needs.

• Please be aware of and follow all posted rules and guidelines.

Code of Conduct

The City of Litchfield Park expects reasonable and appropriate behavior from those who visit and use the facilities and participate in activities. The Community and Recreation Services Department has established a code of conduct to ensure safety and enjoyment and reserves the right to deny admission and/or take disciplinary action against any individual violating the code of conduct. A violation includes, but is not limited to, the use of obscene language or gestures, disorderly conduct, theft, use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products, sexual misconduct, indecency, harassment, failure to cooperate with staff, possession of weapons of any kind, non-compliance with established policies and rules, an unlawful activity and any other behavior deemed offensive or unacceptable. Staff will enforce this code of conduct.
